Marco Antonio Barrera vs Erik Morales II

Very rarely have I come across a post that agrees with me, but I thought Marco did enough to earn himself the victory. It's been a while since I watched it, admittedly, but I thought they both boxed cautiously through six rounds, neither fighter getting the better of the other, and then the second portion of the fight was a little more eventful with Marco edging things. The 12th round really sealed the deal in my view, Barrera came forward and hit Morales with some vicious combinations. The clearest round of the fight.

Side note, I thought the first fight in 2000 could have been scored for either fighter and have no problem with the decision.

 

Barrera-Morales 2 is good although that wasnt THAT controversial.

Mosley-DLH 2

Freitas-Casamayor (I dont get the big deal, this was similar to me in that Freitas, like Barrera, was expected to go out and bang and when he actually outboxed his guy a lot of people seemed to hold it against him).

 

Oh and add Williams-Martinez. I didnt agree with the wide scorecard but I felt Williams definately won. It was close and competetive but a win for Williams.

 

I think I'm the only one on these boards who scored it for MAB.

 

Foreman-schultz.....foreman landed the harder blows

 

I know nobody agrees with me and that is cool....But I scored Whitaker vs Chavez as a draw!

Hagler vs Antuofermo....I had Hagler by a point, but have no problem with the draw either...Hagler won a few of the rounds his way in convincing fashion (although not warranting 10-8 scoring), while Antuofermo won his much more closely! I think people should complain about the 10 point must system rather than the outcome....using our scoring system it seemed to me like the right decision. Along with Minter-Antuofermo I I found this to be a very hard fight to score, with several rounds that were not seperated by very much!

We all know you have a shrine to MAB in your closet.

 

I never had a problem with the first Holyfield/Lewis fight.

Lewis fought far too cautiously and gave Holyfield too much respect.

Although I had Lewis two rounds up at the end; the fact the fight was in the States and Holyfield had been the aggressor for the majority of the bout, meant I figured Holyfield would edge it, and Lewis had blown a golden opportunity.

I never really understood the fuss about the draw, there have been far, far worse decisions in boxing...
