I don't think I'm a "nuthugger".

 

I thought Hagler-Antuofermo 1 was fine. I dont have a problem with that decision at all. In fact I thought Hagler intentionally butted and cut Antuofermo in the second fight and that should be a NC.


Cant agree with Foreman-Schultz. Most people on here know Im not too high on European fighters but this was one case where I thought Schultz won hands down. Almost every round. Foreman landed the harder punches but if that only amounts to three punches (an exaggeration, i know) then big deal. The decision was made even shadier when it was revealed that Bob Arum had paid the IBF $200,000 just to rank Schultz in the top ten so Foreman could defend against him. That right there ought to tell you how much was at stake in Foreman winning and keeping the title. If you can pay $200,000 to get a nobody ranked just to defend against him then there was some big money swirling around big george.

 

I scored it narrowly for Whitaker, so I can at least see where you are coming from. Whitaker was the more impressive fighter by a wider margin, but the 10 point must system does not accurately reflect that.

 

Gavilan/Graham III has that aura around it in the boxing world, although most on here admit to it being a very close bout that could've gone either way. I personally thought Gavilan won it close but clear due to his early work.

 

I agree with 3 fights on this thread:

MAB-Morales 2 (just - Morales could have edged it but I had it 7-5 MAB)
Williams-Martinez (thought it could go either way)
Jones-Tarver (it was pretty clear and the least controversal controversy)

I'd add:

Mayweather-Castillo (not an SD but on a rounds by rounds basis you have to give JLC all the benefits of the doubt to give him 7 rounds, he pissed away the first 5rounds)

I'll add 1 no one will agree with: Casamayor-Cruz, Casa won most the first third or so of the fight, Cruz was aggressive after that but missing most of his punches imo, Casa win is fine in my book.....

I don't think Graham won this fight at all. If Gavilan had been defeated here, it would have been a travesty IMO.

 

Eubank vs watson, Malinga, Amaral, Sherry and both Ray Close fights.The first one especially it was eubank that got reamed by the draw imo.

 

Ali - Norton 3. Still gets called a robbery by some. I just dont get it. I thought Ali just got it but i can understand some calling it for Norton as it was tight, but a ROBBERY?

I agree with most of that.
Lewis walked away with a DRAW after all, not a LOSS, so there's no way I agree with those who insist on calling it "one of the worst decisions ever". It was a disappointing fight, lacking thrills and spills, and the media seemed to make up for that by exaggerating the injustice of the decision.
I think Lewis deserved the attention and recognition it afforded him but you're right, there have been many far worse decisions.

 

I thought holy-lewis 2 was a much worse decision. holy won the second more convincingly than lewis won the first yet lewis gets a draw in 1 and everyone acts like its a sin and gets a win in 2 no one says anything.

 

Huck - lebedev. Thought it was clear huck win.

Calz - hopkins again ditto. Clear win in my eyes.

 

I thought the same thing when I first watched it. Had Gavilan winning wide. Have watched it in full twice since and each time it's been closer and closer, to the point where I think an either type of call could've at least been justified, although I still wouldn't have agreed with it.
