Who at the time in "boxing" was more fitting of baddest man on the planet? Or are you one of these guys who actually believes James Tillis was robbed against him?

For me he was at his absolute best by the Biggs fight in 87. He had four straight mighly impressive KO wins over Biggs in 7 rounds, Holmes in 4, Tubbs in two and then Spinks in the 1st after that he never improved.

Make sure it stays that way. If subhuman garbage like you didn't have me on their ignore list I'd be highly offended.

Well it certainly wasn't someone who was crawling around the ring trying to find his gumshield like a baby looking for it's dummy.

    Thats for sure.:lol::lol::lol:

Perhaps ESB should start another section just for Tyson fanboys and *******s, because both are the same. Then they could compare their ***ual fantasies about their respective heroes.

There could be yourself, Tozzer, dinovelvet, seamus, and there are dozens of *******s in the General section.

I am neither a "pac ****" nor a "Tyson fan boy." Again, who was more deserving of that title in Tyson's era?

Azzer..havent always agreed with you..but you are right.
Old timer..spot on..Biggs fight and next 2 or 3 was Mikes prime.
I started a thread on an unbiased look at Tyson recently...it was well debated and in a more constructive tone than all this stuff. Some idiots on here lately who are just spoiling the whole thing with silly posts to get themselves notoriety.
Ive always thought overall Tyson was slightly overated..and made his name against a line of under achievers...but he beat a long list of them and was so impressive in doing so.
He was lethal until he lost his discipline,it's as simple as that.

Tyson's was not invincible during Cus and Rooneys tutelage, nor was he suddenly leagues worse against Douglas, though poorly prepared. He was, solely on the merit of what he accomplished, very special.

Casual (and some informed) seem to put him on a pedestal because of how dominant he looks in highlight reels and that can cause a knee-jerk reaction from close observers who think they are wrong.

In the end, what you're left with is a fighter that can be ranked anywhere from say 5-15 on the heavyweight ATG list based on his accomplishments. He could have been more had he kept his focus, but then he wouldn't be Mike Tyson.

So, namecalling world class fighters and title holders "bums" qualifies one as "seeing things as they were"?

The depths of stupidity on this board continue to amaze me.

All I know is that Mike Tyson from 1985 when he went pro to the Carl Williams fight left a trail of destruction that left the majority of his opponents laying in a pile . He truly walked right through people and left no doubt that he was there to do one thing and that was to KTFO anyone that stood in his way . IMO I think it was in the fight plan to go 10 rounds with Tillis, Green and Ribalta just so Mike could be put into that situation ,let him get his lungs going and get his oxygen tank ready and be able to box and get that type of experience . He couldve easily disposed of those guys at any moment but I truly think that it was an elegant design to what was to become . He was too busy killing guys so early that he needed to go those distances . I know Tysons handlers knew who was out there and probably never anticipated Tyson to dispose of Holmes early the way he did nor Spinks.
Did Tyson duck anyone from 86-91 ? I really don't think Lennox Lewis in 90 to mid 91 could've handled or have been ready for Tyson , however Holyfield was there and ready for Tyson from late 88 to 90 . That would've been the time for Tyson Holyfield to meet not 96/97. Are there any others that Tyson avoided not saying that he did avoid anyone but Holyfield was there.

Ya know i didn't think anyone could do it but you sir have done it. You have convinced me that Tyson beat some of the most legendary heavyweights to ever live. I mean just look at the list . It truly speaks for itself

PHEW what a murderous row of opponents. Nobody not foreman nor Joe louis not even the great Muhammad ali could have beat ANY of these opponents! the level of competition is simply to much for any fighter except for the great Mike Tyson. Lennox or Evander? nope they wouldnt have beaten half the fighters on the list. The Men…..ney... the legends on the list would have broken lesser men than Tyson

Carl Williams? A legend. James Tillis? Warrior. Tony Tucker? Icon. Tony Tubbs? The monster of the hw division. Marvis Frazier? Better than his dad. Tyson beat the best of the best. His resume is simply unmatched

His loss to Douglas? Naw that was an optical illusion he didn't really lose. The Holyfield Fight? Holyfield bit him in the fight not the other way around i swear. Lennox? pshhh if tyson would have fought him in his prime in the 80's when lennox was still an amuetar Tyson would have knocked him out IM SURE OF IT!!!!

when are people going to just accept tyson for what he was? an exciting fighter with a mediocre career

Welcome aboard the Tyson lover bandwagon , monthly dues will be expected of course . Hey while your at it do you think you could reopen your laboratory and exhume the bodies of the past greats and frankenstein them back into their prime . Crap that will also require you to find the keys to your Dolorian in order for you to put those guys in that 86 - 91 timeframe so Tyson can decapitate them . I'm fresh out of flux capacitors so I can see how you could throw that excuse out there.

I love it when people complain about greatness , Tyson mowed through everyone from 85 till 91 . Then yes he lost to a better prepared Douglas . Tyson wasnt prepared that night ,he was always better than Douglas though. Promoter bull**** influenced the venue which probably played a part . Tyson did come back post prison and regain 2 of those titles before fighting Holyfield and losing . He wasnt the same after prison ,yes he screwed up and he was punished for it . If you want to make the whole argument of Tyson not beating Holyfield or Lewis then please explain to me why Ali got his ass handed to him by Holmes . But then we would would be straying a bit off topic because the title of this thread was when was Tyson's prime.
