When fans' nationalistic pride damages their fighter's credibilty

    Pavlik's credibility is based on what he does in the ring. Period. It has nothing to do with his fans. Well, any fighter really.

    I feel this is elitism. I've mentioned it before, how people who love boxing lament how it is a dying sport and then constantly bashing the new people coming in. It's irritating how people would tell you are nothing if you do not know any of the boxers before the 90's era.

    Or even worse, lamenting the decline of boxing in your country but when other country's come in, they automatically become nitwits and told to **** off.

    It's contradictory. Either accept that boxing is a dying sport and keep it to pugilistic elitists who want the glory days of Sugar Ray Robinson to remain forever or tolerate new fans because they are the ones keeping boxing alive.
