personally I neve cared too much for Floyd, more of a Pac fan, but both are GREAT fighters with achievements you can't take away from them, probably the two best of the 21st century(so far at least)

but I dislike both for not making the super fight happen

I don't at all care for this pack of up and comers - Donaire has had 2 super exciting dominant peformances (Montiel and Darchinyan) and now he's getting up there. He loves his power too much and actually doesn't look versatile much of the time, just banging on opponents arms.
Canelo was actually losing rounds to Alfonso Gomez in the most ******ed tactical fight I've ever seen.
Broner took almost a whole round to finish Litzau.
    Valero is dead.
Rigondeaux treats punches like they have aids and is ancient, with no fights.
When Khan gets tagged on the shoulder its like a human EMP wave hits him, and his offense can't adapt.
Bradley, alexander, Mathysse all seem extremely limited in one way or another.
    Terrible lot.
Gamboa is great physically but chinny and not actually an intelligent fighter. Super figths are not getting made that mean anything so they keep fighting unknowns, and it gets old.
Ward is the best of a bad lot, and his style is usually boring. Kessler is at the end of his career. What is going on these past 3 years?

Boxing will be fine without Floyd. Don't forget, before Oscar threw him a bone, Floyd couldn't draw flies to ****, but somehow after that he became a huge ppv draw. Just goes to show how hungry people are for boxing.

They didn't have the balls to fight each other, so i could give a **** less if they retire right now.

A new superstar always appears in Boxing.

Don't worry, Floyd hardly ever fights as it is. Remember when he was asking his judge to reduce his sentence since it would harm his career and all that crap? Well, he was released August 3rd and still hasn't fought, so that shows you how serious he is about his boxing career.

They said the same thing about when Tyson retired, then about Oscar, before that it was Ali and Frazier. I'm sure this goes all the way back to the beginning of the sport.

Broner and Russell Jr. are huge talents, Canelo already has a huge fan base, and the biggest stars often come out of nowhere (Pac for example).

By the way, a reduction in PPV fights would be great for boxing. I think the last few years promoters have shied away from PPV for all but the best cards and it is working well.
