That's basically what's wrong with Boxing now adays, if it doesn't make dollars it doesn't make sense. Money was always a factor but the fighters of old were more willing to fight often and better opponents to be the "man". That's not to say there still aren't guys like this today, just more of the fighters are business oriented.
A supreme talent at 130, the best H2H ever at the division imo, and a highly accomplished boxer who, at least as of now, could have done a lot more in his career, but still ranks as an ATG anyway. If he does beat Mosley, Cotto, Pac, and JMM, and then retires again without ever being defeated, then he should rate inside the top 30 all time, and top 20 would be a possibility.
I will remember him as the greatest ducker of all time. Fighting small guys to avoid the once of his size.
Mayweather will be remembered as one of the best of all time, in terms of legacy his career defining fight may've been against Oscar De La Hoya, but still when I think of a career defining fight it's against a threat about your age and weightclass and experience. Mayweather will beat Cotto if they ever fight.
Most boxers back in the day also ended up broke, destitute and brain damaged. I will never disrespect any boxer that puts his life on the line and wants to make max money.
JMM is a superfight? Are you kidding? I will remember more Delahoya and Mosley and Tito from recent memory. Floyd I will not think of. Nothing to remember. He never fought anyone great or was in a great fight.
