We've seen it with Lennox Lewis. I wonder if, in hindsight, people will rate Floyd higher head to head for his weight classes after he retires. Thoughts?

I wouldn't be absolutely shocked if in 15 years people say that Floyd would beat almost anyone head to head at 135 or 140.

Of course. It just takes time. His achievements will still stand when people forget they hated his attitude.

All depends on what he does next:yep

    If he retires now??

No they wont "forget" and in fact it will become MORE OBVIOUS that PBF cherry picked and didnt face the top guy's.

I hope he does the right thing makes 4-6 fights and perhaps DEFINES HIS LEGACY.

I have him top 40 now, he probally will be considered greater and may move up a few spots, but I cannot see him in the top 25 yet. The competation has been very good but not great.

As soon as people are convinced that he is not "cherry picking". I don't think Hatton is cherry picked at all (some do, but I don't think so). What he needs to do is fight the winner of Mosley/Cotto because then people will have to shut up about him. This is assuming he gets past Hatton,,,,but to be honest I don't think there will be any problems with that. A showdown with Cotto would be his worst nightmare imo.

If he beats Hatton and retires for good his legacy will be damaged because he'd be retiring pretty damn close to his prime with still a lot of good fighters he's yet to face. If he loses to Hatton then retires for good he'll pretty much be a footnote.

People will look more at numbers than day to day stuff, so he's bound to look better especially if he retires undefeated.

Yes, he will look even better.

If he beat Hatton and then defeated the Cotto-Mosley winner, he'd look great.

He's beaten some damn good fighters...De La Hoya, Judah, Castillo, Corrales.

Good fighters...Mitchell, Corley, Gatti, Baldomir, Jesus Chavez.

All that's left for him is to fight the monster guys at Welterweight...Cotto, Williams, Margarito or even Cintron.

If he fights either of those 4 he will jump up big time in my book.

I hope for him that he does well in upcoming fights cause right now people will always see that he struggled to a SD against a very shot ODLH

oscars money pulled that to a split decision. That was a clear Mayweather victory. 8-4, 7-5 if your a huge DLH fan.

How the hell can people say Floyd hasn't fought "the top guys", are you serious? He cleaned out 130, fought the best at 135 is now fighting the best at 140, he's already the man at 147... I mean you can't be serious who the hell hasn't he fought?

I dare anybody to name another fighter who has faced better opposition and remained undefeated...

Time after he retires and people stop hating him for his bragging attitude people will learn to actually miss him because he is so skilled. I think he already is going to be considered one of the best, in his weight categories but never the best. The thing about Floyd, and it's actually rather unfair to him, is that people seem to think that he has to fight someone else to prove himself. First people said, if he can beat Corrales, than if he can beat DLH and now if he can beat Hatton. Floyd has already beat top notch opponents and if you actually look at all the greats, they didn't fight many great fighters. A lot of their wins were against low class opponents. Take Chavez, he didn't fight anyone until like his 30th pro fight. I don't think Floyd needs to be hatton or even fight Mosley or Cotto. He has already done enough to be put out there. As much as I dislike him, he has amazing boxing skills, good power and is very smart. He has all the qualities. Ok I said it, let the bashing begin.
