When Fonfara demolishes Nathan, will Kovalev fight The Polish Prince?

It seems that Fonfara was considered a cherry pick back when he fought Stevenson. To everyone's surprise he exposed more about Adonis than the illusive Deezol did with the KO. Fonfara beat the THC and corn tortilla outta Chavez Jr. and got no credit.
(side note: If that was GGG who made Junior quit it would of been HBO and The RING Mag's FOTY)

After The Prince punishes Cleverly in Chi Town will Kovalev reach into his man purse and call up Duva to make this fight happen? Fonfara deserves his chance to see if the other champion in the division is worthy of the multiple combination punching that is waiting for him.

It wouldn't shock me in the least if Clev UD's Fonfara.

What makes you think this is going to be some kind of demolitian job?
I expect him to win, but either by late stoppage or competitive decision, and an upset isn't out of the question at all in this one.

Then, even if Forfara somehow blasts Cleverly out, you think Kovalev would lose any sleep over him?

Fonfara doesn't last 4 rounds with Kovalev and I'm being generous.

I thought about this fight for a little bit before posting..... Hindsight is 20/20. Leading up to the fight with Stevenson based on all the data we had it was a cherrypick, no question.... But Fonfara gave a better showing than most expected, Stevenson fans and detractors alike didn't expect him to do as well as he did. His stock went up after that fight an it has continued to with solid wins over Ngumbu, and Chavez Jr. especially. If he were to beat Cleverly he'd be 3-0 since Stevenson, with 2 very solid wins.... So the fight wouldn't be farcical, and more importantly Kovalev would have a chance to make a statement if he were to stop him... The question is does he even get the job done? I read Kovalev wanted to fight next month in Russia? I guess that date is going to have to be pushed back a bit if Fonfara comes through here.

I think Clev definitely has the talent to get the job done, but he doesn't appear to be the same fighter mentally anymore.

Let's put Fonfara into a little better perspective,

He lost almost every round to Karpency and got the stoppage due to an injury.
He lost almost every round to Campillo before the lucky stoppage.
Beat Glen Johnson in a competitive match that many believe Johnson was robbed in.
Lost most of the rounds against Stevenson but managed to drop Stevenson, people forget he was also dropped twice.
Look less than stellar against Ngumbo and gave away many of the latter rounds.
And he stopped a chubby Middleweight who was far too small for him in Chavez Jr.

I like Fonfara....but he's all around a very average fighter.

Yeah but you've been wrong about him before though haven't you? :D

Didn't you pick Chavez to beat him?

I agree that he's not great, but he's definitely riding some momentum and is coming off some good performances, and a spirited defeat to Stevenson. Safe to say he's improved a bit. Clev could definitely box his ears off if he shows up, but I'm not sure he's the same fighter mentally.

Cleverly has a solid chance in this fight. If Fonfara fails to knock out Cleverly, and I think that's what's gonna happen, it will be pretty close on the cards. There might be a draw or an MD/SD situation. Fonfara can't outbox people he can't bully with his size. Dude was losing the fight vs a total bum(at this level) like Karpency until the knock out, a guy Cleverly beat 12 rounds without giving a single round.

Fonfara is 27, he went pro when he was a teenager. I think he is slowly reaching his prime and this fight can prove it. Against Chavez he looked amazing. He progressed a lot after Stevenson and I'd pick him to beat Adonis if they meet again. But Kovalev? Nah, no chances whatsoever at this point. Fight is also unlikely because Fonfara was working with Duva and has bad memories: in 2011 he got... 1 dollar for fighting Smith. Considering that he fights for Haymon, rematch with Stevenson seems more likely.

Fonfara is Haymon fighter, so he will likely be fed to Beterbiev. Kovalev fight is problematic.
