RIP Gatti He was 33yrs old His 5 fights before Mayweather were Jesse James Lejia 47-6-2 - Win TKO 5 Leonard Dorin 22-0-1 - Win TKO 2 Gianluca Bianco 32-0-1 - Win UD Mickey Ward 38-12 - Win UD Mickey Ward 38-11 - Win UD The fight directly after Mayweather Thomas Damgaard 37-0 - Win TKO 11 How is a man who was on a hot streak vs solid comp considered washed up at that time?
gatti never had any defence at all, kellernan stated it was the biggest ppv mismatch since tyson lewis prior to the fight
Floyd is on the same level as prime Roy Jones. Only a superfight out of his weight class would have posed a real challenge. Gatti was not shot, but he was never a GREAT champ.
RIP Gatti but yeah...he had a HOF heart but B level skills. he was never in floyd's league, hot streak or not
I think that the Gatti win looks much improved now. Basically Gatti looked washed up because he was so firmly out-classed. Now we've seen Marquez suffer the same fate, it kindoff makes more sense. He needs to fight a ****ing welterweight though.
Well, the three fights against Ward didn't help Gatti's body, but either way Mayweather beats Gatti because he's in a different class.
he wasn't...mayweather was just better....mayweather threads of anykind are getting old because he is the most UNDERRATED fighter on ESB....his skills are number one...he made gatti look like a club fighter and he ko'd him and that was a big fight at the time
yah after the ward trilogy...when he fought floyd he was on a hot streak...don;t matter anyone PBF fights sucks...it is not that pbf is good it is that his opponents just suck that night
Maybe you should watch the Oscar fight again, Gatti was never elite. He was an amazing fighter though!
Gatti was actually on his best run. The fight would not of been made if he was that past it. He stopped another guy afterwards too.
