When has a good prime little man beat a good prime bigger man?

    Ruiz is a difficult one to rate. On one hand he fought like an absolute turd against Jones, and has looked ****ing awful at times. On the other hand, he had beaten some good fighters by the time he fought Jones, and has proved to have better longevity than most of his contemporaries. Tricky.

    Thinking of fights in recent years, I would say that Ivan Calderon gave away a hell of a lot of weight to Hugo Cazarez when he moved up to take his belt, and the significance of the poundage difference would be accentuated by the fact that it was a fight in one of the lowest of boxing's weight divisions.

    Both good prime men at the time of the fight.

    I'm not sure if Duran-Leonard really fits in. Although Leonard was naturally bigger, it wasn't as if Duran had suddenly jumped up in weight to fight Ray. Duran had left 135 two years earlier and had several fights in the 145-150 range, including a dominating win over a top WW in Palomino.

    Dick Tiger was 37 years old when he rose from middleweight to light-heavyweight to snatch the title from Jose Torres, weighing only 167 to Torres's 175. He beat Torres again in a rematch.

    Duran - Barkley for sure. Didn't Barkley start his career as a light heavyweight
    Huge size different there. Barkley was coming off the Hearns win
