DB isn’t an elite puncher, he’s an accumulation/pressure wear you down combination puncher. IMHO.

GGG was supposed to knock Canelo into orbit according to his supporters before fight 1, and 2 for that matter. Now he was past it lol. Canelo has fought enough guys that can crack to tell us he's got granite. If he fights this " nuclear" punching Benavides and wins we'll just see posts saying he shoudla fought Goku instead.

Plant has never been a big puncher, if we are talking about Caleb. Linares was never seen as a puncher either. Bivol however is a puncher when he sits on his punches. Benavidez, who has sparred with both, says he hits harder than Gvozdyk.

Nah man. Canelo's chin is certified bunker concrete. He's never had a problem with 'power'. His kryptonite is a speedy clever boxer with quick feet and even then he's beaten most of those. Golovkin landed some nukes on Canelo, and the best he did was buzz him for a few seconds. Ginger goes into defensive mode when he's been tagged hard and he becomes extremely difficult to finish off. That's the fruits of endless drills in the gym for that specific eventuality.

Maybe not for the first one but I definitely saw decline in the second fight. Canelo has an excellent chin and has shown that numerous times. However certain punchers he has faced were badly faded (namely Kovalev).

Benavidez may not be as good to GGG was but he certainly would be Canelo’s hardest fight at 168 to date. Sure I still back Canelo to beat him and effectively break him down in the inside, but I think Benavidez’s relentless pressure gives Canelo a lot of trouble. He’s earned his shot and now it’s time for Canelo to deliver the fight the fans want.

I’m not sure how hard that Kovalev was punching but not way Benavidez hits harder than GGG. Power is the last thing to go, even Canelo haters have to admit just power won’t get him out if there. Only way I see Benavidez winning is with Canelo gassing bad since he’s already shown signs of aging.

Every fight Ive seen of Benavidez he has several of these moments where he squares up like a punching bag and gets hit flush. The only thing Canelo has to careful about is getting punched in back of head which is what happened on the Andrade KD.

Benavidez will do well at 168 for however long he stays there. He has a chance versus Canelo only because of Canelo's decline which we're all seeing real time. I still favor Canelo because he's effective versus that style.

Canelo will hit him, for sure. But he isn't stopping him. Canelo couldn't stop Ryder and Charlo lately and David has a better chin than both.

Benavidez is also so much bigger and the reality is Canelo doesnt stop FIGHTERS. He does fine versus decent-good boxers like Plant and BJS but cant do much w GREAT boxers like Floyd, Lara, and obviously Bivol. Fortunately for Canelo Benavidez fights like a mix between GGG and JCC Jr. Canelo wont have to worry about movement or catching his opponent since Benavidez comes to you, but he wont stop David because he is young and massive (for 168lb).

Canelo opponents that came to him include GGG, Ryder, Kirkland, Angulo, Yildrim, Liam Smith...etc.

Plant would fall under the pretty big puncher category and even then I'm being generous with that assessment because I'm trying to be kind to Clenelo

Linares is a legit puncher. He might not show it in every fight but he can crack. Even in the gym with big gloves and head gear on he has a reputation for being a puncher, KO'ing like 32 or 33 of his sparring partners

Now granted it makes it much worse for Haney considering how washed and inactive Linares was and had been and how much bigger than Linares his gigantic weight bullly as is. But Linares can crack

What I'm saying is, is that they will come up with an excuse for every opponent Canelo beats.

Sort of like GGG and Beterbiev then? You realize they are not 1 punch Ko artists?

People are forgetting Jacobs. Jacobs could hit very hard at 160.

I would argue atleast as hard as David at 168.

But it wont be the power that beats Canelo. It will be fearlessness of counters (which most of Canelos opponents are affected by) coupled with size and pressure/workrate.

Once Canelo starts gassing, turning red and dropping his arms like he always does when forced to work hard, Benavidez can start drowning him.

The only question is if Canelo can knock him out or atleast make him fear his explosiveness before it gets that far which imo is about 6-8 rounds
