Ya'll hated on me. Now Pavlik is pretty much admitting he wouldn't have been in much better shape than Abraham for a fight at 160. Everyone was worried about "unification" more than how the actual fight would play out and the quality of the performances by both fighters.

Would you say Abraham has more stylistic, physical, and intangible disadvantages against Pavlik than you thought Martinez did, or fewer? :think

That's not a dig, seriously :yep - just trying to place how confident you are in this match-up. I know you've always liked Pavlik over Abraham, but you seem completely undeterred - maybe even spurred on? - by their recent performances (including Arthur's ventures into SMW).

    :deal

Pavlik wanted nothing to do with Abraham, who called Pavlik out for months.

Abraham was struggling at 160 well before then anyway and was desperate to get the fight.

Even at 168 he damages Pavlik badly.

There was a time when 90% of what I knew about AA came from ESB hype. At that time I had a relatively high opinion of him. That opinion changed dramatically after I studied several of his fights, and took an in depth look at his record.

Abraham would not present Pavlik with any serious stylistic challenges. My thoughts on this fight have more to do with the fact that Abraham simply isn't all that great than anything else. I don't really have time to chat right now. Maybe later.

Abraham would kill Staphlik at any weight, period. Abraham can take everything Kelly hits him with, and hit him back with bombs.

I agree, Abraham would bust up Pavlik's face so badly he will look like some deformed beast. :smoke

It's always an interesting fight, and it obviously depends on whether Pavlik can take AA's shots or not. I'm not as confident as I was that that's the case now, but you can still be sure that the outcome will be pretty decisive for one man depending on how that turns out.

    That's why I asked.

Really, just a getting quick cliffnote, either "more ****ed than I thought Martinez was" or "less ****ed than I thought Martinez was" was my only goal. :yep

I'm not necessarily saying that Abraham isn't facing a much more difficult style match-up than Martinez did. It's just that boo indicated that SGM was as ****ed as ****ed can be...and it turns out, he wasn't really. Pavlik weight drain and corner issues notwithstanding.

I'm curious to know if Abraham's chances are greater than Martinez's were supposed to have been, or even slimmer (if that's even possible).

Pavlic should have fought Williams. I think that was a winable fight for him. I just can not see him win against Abraham with one two combinations against the turtle defense. Abraham will open at the end of the rounds stealing them and punishing Pavlic. Pavlic is also prone to cuts and has a very low safe confidance right now.
