I also don't give a rats ass who has more posts posted on the ESB forum section.... That don't mean ****, either...... And, as far as being a writer for some boxing magazine, well, in 2010 that is becoming nondescriptive as well....... Why? Cuz magazines are becoming old fashion in a rapid manner... And many boxing magazines outside of "KO, Ring or World Boxing" basically stink to high heaven as it is... How do I know this? Because I've gandered at just about all the published boxing mags over the last 30 years and the majority of them stink........ And to top that off, I've been to the conventions in Vegas and L.A. and I've listened to all the wizards and intellects blab their hearts out, etc... I like and respect some, and despise others... Its just the way it works in boxing..... MR.BILL
So it's a personal thing with Ayala. Just as it is with many. Nobody is argueing against him being a **** of a human being, but the fact of the matter is, the guy had talent and could of been a good fighter. What the **** are you talking about now?
I was maybe 10 the first time I heard about Julio Cesar Chavez, (who was then somewhere around 60-0) and, knowing precious little about boxing, asked when he and Mike Tyson would fight.
so do i! but when i was even dumber and less knowledgable i thought: 1)robinson was overrated 2)chavez was a bum who only fought cab drivers 3)tyson was H2H the greatest heavy ever 4)LaMotta, Sanchez and Hagler were in the top 10 all time
Actually, I'm not attached to Ayala in any shape or form... I never was... I saw him growing in '81 and 1982 on the tube, and then he went to the slammer for **** and other criminal activity.... Showing promise as a fighter is great, but it doesn't fill the frame for the whole picture.... T.A. never made it to the top of the 154 / 160 lb. divisions because he squandered his chances by being foolish... And, as far as being dedicated to the sport of boxing, I always thought Ayala looked kinda' pudgy even when stripped down at 154 pounds... So therefore, he was winning his fights on ability alone... But since his competition was merely average, its no surprise that he managed to get by the 20 something times he fought as a youth....... And, just what I said earlier about the posters... I care LESS who owns 20,000 to 40,000 posts or more on the Forum section of ESB.... That doesn't impress me... I've seen posters with mega posts printed and I still think they are full of ****, while a guy can come in here with 500 posts and literally kick some ass and make good sense...... Some folks here think this is a numbers game or something.... WTF? After all, the majority of arguments here on the Forum are based on opinions of one another; not based on actual fight statistics...... nono MR.BILL
I still don't know what the **** you are talking about. When did I say anything about the number of posts somebody has? Enlighten me, because are far as I can see, I said nothing of the such.
Hello, McFly...... Tap, Tap, Tap... That has nothing to do with you personally..... That is me stating that I do not generally rank or rate people highly based on the # of posts a poster has in the forum section of ESB that is listed below everyone's avatar...... Some folks may get intimidated by seeing a poster with a shitload number of posts attached to there avatar, but I can assure you I do not........ This crap with being a "Guru" or "VIP" looks and sounds cool to me, but it doesn't really mean or prove a goddamn thing...... Are we making contact?? :hat:rasta MR.BILL:good
I thought Lennox Lewis was the only British boxer who was any good. I also though that ODLH was a top 10 ATG.
It's merely about respect..... I respect posters whether they have 1 or 40,000 posts..... All I need to do is read what they are saying about a certain topic and I'll decide from there...... Granted, it normally takes several posts before I can zoom in on someone to decide if they have good boxing knowledge or not.... Here in the forum it gets tricky... Because all kinds of **** and topics come flying in.... But I never generally fly off the handle and go on the attack just because I beg to differ with a poster... I just get pissed when somebody either posts something totally stupid or they mouth off back at me and question my integrity.... I've been following this racket for over 30 years.... I'd like to believe I have a clue to a certain extent..... That's all I'm saying....... thumbsup:hat:yep MR.BILL
absolutely hated hagler when i was a kid. every fight after minter i wanted to see him beaten. took 6 or 7 years for him to be beaten and my stance never wavered even though i was mid-teens by then and doing a bit myself therefore getting a bit of insight into the game. I'd go as far as to say it was my early 20s before i truly appreciated Hagler. I mean i always knew he was good but didnt realise how good. Beleive it or not, ditto Holmes
I loved Hagler..... But, I admit, I rooted against him 1987 when Leonard returned..... Later I rooted against SRL when he sparred Duran for 12 rds in 1989 on PPV out in Vegas...... Word... MR.BILL:hat
