Hey, i'm from Germany, so please excuse my bad english, i will try my best. I do boxing now for 1 month in the boxclub. The training is tue, wed, sun and fri at home, on mon and wed i do a bit cardio, not very intensiv, and mon and thur some bodyworkout. I get better in boxing, but on the last 2 sessions i felt very weak and not fit. One point is that i lost weight from 74kg to 69-70kg to be in the welterweight. Will this automatically get better in few weeks or will it get more worse? On one hand i must eat a bit less than else and do this training to keep my weight, on the other hand is it maybe too much and i can get overtrained? i definatly feel weaker than before, but i have also more condition and i am quiklier. I hope there are some people who can help me, thank you very much! TheGermanGuy
Over training often results in some kind of illness, flu or whatever, due to breakdown in the immune system. Even the best boxers in the world get sick before a fight because they pushed themselves too hard. It will take years for you to lean how much your body can take. How long? All depends on you. If you want to get as fit as Bernard Hopkins, you should expect to work as hard as he did.
You need rest young Jedi! Are you cutting weight for a reason? Are you currently overweight? Why are you dieting? You probably just need some rest and a easily digestible meal before training (oatmeal). Good luck!
Thank you for the answers! I didn't got ill, this was my first expectation too, but it wasn't so. I think it depends on my eating, the last 2-3 days i ate normaly and the training was better i think. Only the many sets on the heavybag making me tired, so i must work on my shoulder condition. The sparring sessions are also good i think, i would say that i am definitly better than before 4 weeks. The coach told me today that my footwork in the ring is okay, not really good, but also not bad, i must work on it and keeping my left hand calmly, he let me spar with a young guy who is german champion in 2 weightleages under mine. Coach said that is good because i can learn from him because he is so fast and agile. I did some diet because trainer told me that i can box in the welterweight and should stay in the 70kg area round about. (I'm 1,75metres tall, 20 years) I was about 74kg so i started some weight losing. Yesterday i sparred with a guy who weights 77-81kg and trains about 4 1/2 years, he really knocked me out, because in the last minute he gets some rage and hits me very hard and i had no chance, the trainer was in this time away. I detected that my nose bleed very fast if it gets punshed and bleeds very well, don't know if this will get better. The guy told me for a month of training i have talent, because i'm fast and don't look away, but he destroyed me in the ring, badass! It makes really fun, because i see how i get better, i will now try to eat normaly and look at my weight to not get fat. Sorry for my bad sentences, in germany there is no good boxing board, i will try to learn english fast as i can. TheGermanGuy
Sounds like you are overtraining. make sure you rest. and remember to eat well, you burn a lot of calories when you train hard
What do you eat on an average day? The amount people that jump straight to overtraining on this forum is ridiculous. 95% of the time it's down to not eating enough.
Sounds like you are not eating enough, so you are losing weight too fast and not having enough energy. Losing weight for boxing can be tricky becuase you have to eat enough food to provide you energy for training, but not too much so you are losing fat. It's a very fine line and takes some trial and error to figure out how much you should be eating.
I'm to 99% sure that it was the eating. The last week i ate normally and the training session were much better, i got more energy and wasn't so tired. So i will eat now more, because my weight is very good, i ate more this week but weighted 69kg yesterday, so if i eat more i can train much harder and the calories will burn more. Do you know what is the problem with my nose? (only right side bleeds) In the sparring the 4 1/2 years boxer destroyed me and the bleed runs so fast, it lasted 5-10min where it don't bleed. No the blood is dry in the nose, but i think if i will get punshed again the next days, the nose will again bleed so well. Is it normal to the beginning or is this a problem? I also must train my shoulder condition and my speed when i hit and try to use my right more often, because i using mostly jabs because my right isn't so fast yet, but my trainer said i should do a right punch after every 2 lefts.
