What does "periferic" mean? I think you may mean "peripheral".

Stick to two syllable words when bagging people out Johnny.

I believe it was 6-5; recall Sonny had trained his butt off and was ready to go in Oct-Nov 64 when the fight was postponed due to Ali's appendectomy? I think.

Different sport here but did anyone know that the 1972 undefeated Miami Dolphins were 2 1/2 point dogs in their super bowl game against the Wash. Redskins?

    Has Jeffries/Johnson been mentioned yet?

Johnson was somehow the underdog in that one.

they were both title-holders, calzaghe having his title for much longer than lacy.

...LaMotta was the underdog when he defended his title against robinson.

Champion Willie Pep was the favorite before his first title defense against Sandy Saddler. then the odds started shortening and Saddler became the favorite for about half and hour when the odds shifted so rapidly that the boxing commission called both figthers in and told them they would be watching the fighter very closely. Now the bookmakers were going nuts. Some wouldn't even take bets on the fight.

saddler won by a kayo. it was rumored at the time that the leading mathemeticians in the world never could agree on whether the bookies made or lost money on the endeavor.

It happens often. Jim Braddock was the underdog against challenger Joe Louis. Kostya Tszyu was an underdog against challenger Zab Judah. Leon Spinks was an underdog going into his title defense against Muhammad Ali.

The champions aren't always regarded by the oddsmakers as being the best fighters. Sometimes guys become champion because of lucky circumstances alone.
