When injuries during the fight genuinely cost a fighter the Victory?

I think it was in 2014 where our boy Daniel '' The Rock '' Dawson dropped Austin Trout twice in the 3rd but sustained a calf injury severely affecting his ability to move. Many believe Dawson would have won that fight if not for that injury, me included. You can't even throw with such a badly injured and crucial part of your body. You can't push off the leg or put weight on it. Massive handicap. It would have been a big win for him and for our country had we got that. No sore loser, just facts.

Actually last week the big heavyweight boys on the Tszyu-Brubaker card seemed to have this problem. The favourite and bigger fighter dropped the other guy but not long later seemed to injure his right hand. His power hand. He hardly used it at all and lost a split decision ( should have been MD ) but def affected his use of the right power hand.

Which fights or fighters do you know where injury played a big part in the outcome? No bs answers about concussion either smart asses.

Chris Byrd might disagree but there is no way Vitali would have lost that fight had he not injured his shoulder.

**We all know that David Haye would have easily beaten Wlad if his pinky toe didn't get hurt. :)

Didn't B-Hop box his way to a decision just using the jab while injured?

I think Jurgen Braehmer was ahead against Cleverly before sustaining an elbow injury.

Amir Mansour was beating up Dominic Breazale horribly until he bit through his own tongue. That was definitely unfortunate for him and pretty much the end of his career. Never looked good again after that

Didn't Mansour have a fractured jaw in that fight too? So less of a freak incident more of the case that Breazeale hit him hard enough to do physical damage which then resulted in his biting his own tongue.

I'm not sure, he very well may have. I just vividly remember the tongue issue and the bleeding

Gary Russell Jr vs. Mark Magsayo
Russell (southpaw) injured his right shoulder in the 4th round and subsequently lost a MD
He threw over 60 jabs in the first 3 rounds, 3 jabs in the next 2 rounds, and ZERO jabs in the final 7 rounds

Vitali's cut against Lennox cost him a chance at winning.

Lucas Matthysse against Danny Garcia. He was having some success earlier before his eye started to close from Garcia’s punches that affected his performance while Garcia took advantage and outboxed him.

That’s a fight that should have had a rematch but never happened.

Rocky Mattioli lost a championship fight when he hurt his right hand and was forced to fight only with his left the last four rounds or so. I forget the opponent.
