About same size but Liston is way stronger. That's the thing, people are thinking "bigger" when they should be thinking "stronger."

Size equality does not always equal physical attribute equality. Liston certainly isn't as fast as Byrd despite the same height and weight. And Byrd certainly isn't as strong despite being the same height and weight.

This is really common sense stuff, some people just have different physical talents but everyone is so obsessed with "size" and "weight" Some men are faster, some men are stronger, regardless of their weight.

For a large portion of Floyd's career he was smaller than Hatton but by the time of their fight he was bigger than Hatton.

Bigger is a variable not a constant.

    Not to be rude, duh!

we are discussing who would be the bigger man inside the ring. Who is the bigger guy overall.

Theres a reason you rarely see guys who are under 5'10 with short arms trying to compete at heavyweight or even cruiserweight. This rarely happened even in the old days. If it was purely about sheer "weight" way more smaller fighters would simply bulk up/stuff themselves to get into the more lucrative weight classes.

No, being the HEAVIER man is not set in stone. Height, reach, muscle mass, and bone structure rarely if ever change past the age of 25.

From the begining hearns and hagler were already fairly tall, muscular men. Its not like hearns started off at 5'4 and hagler was taller and waty bigger than him before he hit a growth spurt and became way bigger, etc. The only thing that really changed was their weight.

As for pacquiao he is considered small for a welterweight he operates better at lightweight/jr welter. The reason he was able to start at such a low weight was because he was so young and dirt poor that he was malnourished.

And no chris byrd and liston are not the exact same size. Byrd started his career at 169. Listons overall frame was bigger and he had an 84' reach compared to byrds 74' reach. The only similarity is their height.

They were both 6'1.5" and have weighed 213-215. Liston does have an 80-84 inch listed wingspan. But overall, hard to call him bigger just because of that.

Liston is stronger. Byrd is faster. But they are the same height and weight with one man having longer arms. Size is not the end all be all of physical attribute determination, it's more variable.

I will never forget seeing Tyson and Lewis in the same room.
Tyson looked bigger for some reason.

GGG is clearly bigger than Brook in frame and overall size. They looked 2 weight classes apart in the ring.

    Clear to who?

    Once more...

Brook was heavier in the ring and only an inch shorter at the most. No way around that.

It seems to me there is a weird mental hang up here regarding these two. Brook and Golovkin are both 168-175 in the ring, and have been for a long time. The difference is now, Brook can no longer cut the water weight to make Welter limit. Also, Golovkin has a big head...that I suppose makes him look "large framed"

Height reach and bone structure don't change.

Muscle mass changes all the time every month. A fighter doesn't get to 10% body fat and just stay there. It's a complex balance between diet and exercise.

Golovkin has a mere inch advantage in height and reach compared to Brook. Brook was the heavier man on the night. The measurements of the two fighters were near equal.

However it was quite clear than Golovkin was the naturally bigger fighter.

If Brook ends up moving up in weight fighting as high as LHW that situation would then change.

In 1998 Glen Johnson was bigger than Guillermo Jones.

If they had a fight tomorrow Jones would be the bigger man.

lewis developed late, at 18 he was a complete spaguetti and tyson a tank, but when lewis developed 100% was huge,

i can name you guys who were natural monsters(not made in a gym)... Foreman at 18 weighed 229 pounds and was strong like ****, Tyson was another animal, primo carnera was a giant, Max baer was naturally big and strong, Jefries was a natural animal, chuvalo was built like a ****ing tank his frame was like the prehistoric fish dunkleosteus, Joe Louis was pretty big in terms of frame, the guy did not have big musculature and he barely weighed 200 pounds but he looked big cause his frame,(head, legs )

    Fat=/=muscle.

Again, a short, stumpy, lard ass with short arms who weighs 300 lbs is NOT a "bigger" guy than a prime Lennox Lewis.

    ^bigger is about VOLUME
