Dude Kovalevs contract with HBO was up after his last Pascal fight. Main events stated that since he wasn't tied to HBO any more that the fight with Stevenson would happen.

Stevenson may have walked away the first time but Kovalev walked away the second time. Both of their decisions were similar and both chose a business oppurtunity rather than fight each other.

If you are going to say Stevenson ducked Kovalev then it is clear that Kovalev ducked Stevenson the second time. The truth though is unfortunate. Boxing is a business where it is wise to get the most money available in the short span of your prime. Neither guy may have ducked the other but the fanboys on both sides would rather spin the facts to support their fighter.

Hes a top 5 LHW, how much more do you want?

Outside of Kovalev, who has decisively beaten Chilemba?

He even gave Kovalev a hard night

His contract was hardly up after that fight because Kovalev and Ward agreed to fight each other last year. Kovalev's contract with HBO will expire after the Ward fight.

Exactly. If stevenson has faced ****ty competition, what would you call Kovalevs?

Based off last nights performance, Kovalev would probably get hurt badly within the first 3 rounds.

Stevenson just fought a live body. And it was a very entertaining fight. Fonfara fight was pretty solid as well.

Yea he is fighting softer touches than Kovalev but Kovalev has 3 belts and thus more responsibilities. I will be happy as long as they unify.

Exactly. Stevenson went where the money is. Kovalev's team just flat out refused to fight once it became clear it was not going to be on HBO. Neither man is scared, I am certain of it. This is a hurt business aND both are tough guys.

I made a mistake sorry it was the first Pascal fight. The first Kovalev-Pascal fight was an eliminator to fight Stevenson. After Kovalev beat Pascal the first time his contract with HBO had ended. So he had just won an eliminator to fight Stevenson and was no longer under contract with HBO. He then signed another contract with HBO instead of fighting Stevenson. Kovalev and main events then pulled out of the Stevenson fight. It is that simple.

The same WBC that has allowed Wilder to make defenses against:

    1) A fat beer drinking champion who could not beat an LHW in his prime
    2) A guy the beer drinking champion and somebody named Ashanti Jordan both knocked out in one.
    3) An unknown French Pastry chef
    4) A Polish crusier who was down three times against Mike Mollo

Yeah, hold your breath on that one. The WBC now pretty much exists to create bogus champions to cater to a certain demographic of fans.
