When is boxing going to move on from Mayweather ducking syndrome?

I think it all started with the whole "A" side "B" side garbage. From there, people started ducking, making impossible demands, and just playing saying crazy things. Don't forget the WBA/WBC/etc.. not enforcing mandatories strictly enough...

Mayweather was one of the worst. Jones the previous era. Naseem Hamed was protected like a new born baby in a pink shawl as long as he possibly could. Hopkins and Calzaghe spent the majority of their careers fighting bums instead of duking it out with one another, Darrius, Jones and Ottke like the greats of the past would have done

Promoters take a big blame, but really the boxers themselves if they had the cojones would tell the promoters to shut thy mouth, step aside and let them prove themselves against the best

What fighters are really saying is they want their opponent old, shot to pieces or at a serious weight disadvantage, preferably all three.

It's not Mayweather's doing. It's a byproduct of multiple belts at the same weight. Where there was just one line to get in per weight, you fought who was ranked above or you didn't advance. And the Champ had to fight the #1, 2, 3, 4 contender, or get stripped.

As others have pointed out above, since the 90s there are more + more examples of fighters 'ducking'. It's because nowadays, fighters can choose who they will fight - change ABC org, change weight. They aren't forced up the single ladder. Changes the whole model.
