It bothers me that fans take the stand of their favorite fighters to the point of being unreasonable. Example - The PEDS issue in the never ending Pac-Mayweather debates. Anyone who is reasonable would concede that there is a reasonable cut-off date for blood testing in boxing. This is a sport where the integrity of the arms, like joints, should never be compromised. Blood testing sometimes causes bruising. If 100 meter runners would have their drug testing taken from their foot, I am sure they would protest too, I think a 5 day period is more than adeuqte and if in case someone actually tried to use PEDS in that very short window, what did he gain? I am pretty sure it is negligible. Now, as a fan, would you concede that well, 0 days cut-off seemed unreasonable. It is alright to support your favorite fighter but they are humans too and sometimes, they can be unreasonable and it does not have to have any scientific proof to support his views. But, would you even have the guts to say some of the demands are a bit unreasonable? Or would you just sway with whatever your fighter is saying. Another example : Martinez ever insistent demand to fight Pacquiao or Mayweather. Sure, Pac and Mayweather fought fighters as close to the weight of Martinez. But they fought fighters who were never career junior middleweights or middleweights. Margarito was still making weight for 147 as early as last year, while Oscar really is retired business-cum boxer. Was their a point in the ensuing drama where you thought that that was unreasonable? Or did you just have to repeat what Martinez was saying. From Martinez' point of view, he is just looking for a payday. Understandably so because fighters have very short shelf life. But it does not also mean it is reasonable. The question is when is it acceptable to mirror your fighter's views without any thought process at all and when is it not?
