When is Jaime Munguia gonna step up?

Im a diehard Tito Trinidad fan but it never sat right with me that they threw FV in there with him at such a young age. He showed massive heart but that was a mistake and his career was never the same after.

Fernando was a victim of chito wraps. Nothing to do with being rushed. Same with David Reid. Both were more then capable but fell victim to cheating.

 

i think hes ready for hurd. if he loses, so what? hes obviously going to get better and his name just gets bigger, even if he loses. if it starts to look like hes taking a serious beating, pull him out. hurd is not a ko puncher, he grinds you down to hamburger. hes also not hard to hit, and i like this kids cannons. hurd is a favorable style for him, its skilled boxer punchers who would school him, hurd gives him what he wants.

 

I would love , Hurd & mungo would love that, but Oscar will swerve him clear.

 

munguia will be willing to step up i think hes gonna fight 2 more very winnable fights before he fights a top dog. sense de la hoya is running his career correct me if im wrong i see him fighting hogan next. then defending on more time vs a kell brook. then moving up get a nice easy introduction fight at 160 vs a decent name. then maybe finally challenge him self in a tough fight but still not a real fight. de la hoya might milk this guys career same with ryan garcia. hes gonna try n protect these guys and hit big with them.

 

Junior Middle is an interesting division.

Some of the most talented Americans campaign there & it also features some of the best young international talent in Mexican Mungo, the WBO champ & Brian Castano, the WBA regular champ.

There's a few other guys who could feature in the division very shortly also.

Not sure if we will see any unification fights, as perhaps the best guys will move to Middleweight & look to establish themselves there instead.

 

Obviously other fighters have made giant strides at his age. But in the year of our Lord 2019, he's moving at a decent pace. Especially for a promotion top-heavy in star talent.

He defended his belt twice in the second half of 2018. One, top-10 (Smith) and the other, not so much - but a blue-collar guy, nonetheless. Inoue didn't move the needle but was always going to the be there to whack. If Golden Boy is going to take their time with a 22-year-old, at least he can provide some action. Same with Dennis Hogan, who is Munguia's top contender.
