Since I haven't watched the Spence/Brook fight i'll withhold my comment on Brooks decision to quit while on one knee. Judging by the reaction in this forum, he seems to have gotten a pass on his decision to "throw in the towel" on himself. Was it because his eye may have been injured? Or does it have to do with the amount of punishment he had taken up until that point in the fight? Or both. Do you think if a doctor had examined him at that point he would have found him fit to continue?

His eye socket was broken in the 7th and he carried on for several rounds not being able to see properly and with the warning from his surgeon that if he'd carried on a for a few more rounds with GGG (with the same injury) he may have ended up blind, echoing around his head. Can't blame him IMO.

Sadly Quitting has become accepted in the last 20 years. Excuses are often made for the Quitting fighter to make it seem ok. It isn't.

Was Brook examined by a physician during the Spence fight?

Brook, his trainer, his promoter, a doctor and a CT scan. Pretty comprehensive.

I know what you're trying to get at here. You're waiting for me to say no so you can respond with 'so how do you know it was broken?'.

Brook had the same injury vs GGG and said in the 7th he got punched and it felt the same. I have no reason to disbelieve Brook. It was clearly visible to all watching his other eye socket was broken. As I said, knowing what he now knows (after sustaining the same injury before) he'd be a lot more careful knowing he could lose his sight. Some will flame the **** out of him for it and that's down to them, I personally understand why he stopped. If you can't see and could go blind then it is wise to quit. **** losing your sight just so people think you're brave.

I wasn't looking for an excuse to come back at you I just want a verified source confirming he did in fact suffer a broken orbital bone. Brook feeling that the punch "felt the same" isn't confirmation. Has there been a press release confirming he suffered a fractured orbital bone?

It's been reported on Sky and the BBC, he may need to have surgery but the doctors cant tell until the swelling goes down.

Walters quitting against Lomachenko is the only recent "quitting" I have a problem with. If you think your health is at risk, there is no dishonor in quitting. These fights are not meant to be " to the death ". After all, it's only a sport.

fyi: he needed a ko to win, was way down on the cards because 2 out of 3 judges were fair. the other with Spence up ONLY 1 going into 11 was either bought or incompetent

He's one unlucky bloke. Was Brook ever seriously injured before the GGG and Spence fights?
