He has been very quiet from the defeat , no comments or twitter messages and no videos on you tube , but apparently he needed 30 stitches in his mouth so maybe he is avoiding the cameras, I thought he won 3 or 4 rounds against Browne but the second half of the fight was all browne, but id say he needs to retire and find another source of income as he is getting hurt badly now !
That's because of his shape. If he stays in a condition like this, he won't win fights anymore. But if he drops 20 or 30 pounds, his speed and reflexes will come back and in that shape he can still beat every heavyweight out of the top 20.
a great fighter he was and still has some moves but if you believe he can beat all heavy weights in the top twenty after dropping weight then im afraid your dreaming and living in a fantasy world, Toney is nearly 45 for god's sake , time waits for no man and he certainly hasnt had the most healthy of lifestyles , a B-HOP he aint , im a Toney fan but a bit of common sense can tell you its over
His stills have deterioated, no matter in what shape he comes in. Sure a 220 pound Toneyy may have outpointed Brown in the US. So what? James can NOT beat a 10 Top heavyweight even at 220. And certainly, I do not believe Toney will ever fight again below 240 pounds.
Honestly looking at recent interviews and the shape he comes in i get the impression it might be too late to protect him from himself. Having him retire now might slow down the process but hes also quite far gone when it comes to degeneration.... think him retiring now is the difference between him not knowing where he is in 10 years instead of 5 if he keeps fighting. Really sad for a masterboxer and a ATG.
