Chagaev is undefeated champion who is the 2nd most proven fighter in the division. he has established himself as the 2nd best heavyweight out there. chagaev has world class talent and he is young. how bout a mega unification match?

Valuev has improved tremendously in the past couple years. He has a very good resume and record 48-1, and at 7'0 325lb he would be a size threat to klitschko who usually dwarfs his opponents. Valuev looked great in shutting out sergie liakhovic.

these fights are legacy boosters ,must fights for wlad. enough with the ray austins and tony thompsons.

The better question would be... when is Chagaev going to fight at all? He got injured two times preparing for the fight against Valuev.

My bet is that Wlad will aim to fight the winner of Valuev/Ruiz for unification after he fights Povetkin later this year, assuming he beats Povetkin. If that fight cannot be made, look for a possible fight against Haye.

Who knows if Chagaev will ever fight again. If Wlad should fight and defeat Valuev/Ruiz, then Chagaev would be the automatic mandatory upon his return. Maybe then.

Well, he should fight them but i doubt this will be happen in the next 12 month due to politics. He fights Povetkin next. At the same time Ruiz-Valuev is for the WBA interim title and Chagaev has to face the winner next - if he fights ever again. So, both are out for al least 9 month.
Wlad-Peter II is another fight that should happen if Peter gets by Vitali. This could be made in early 2009 since Peter-Vitali and Wlad-Povetkin are perhaps on the same card and even when not at least around the same time.

When the promotors decide on it it should be a unification fight.

Pray for Valuev. I see a much better chance of him fighting Wlad than Chagaev. I am afraid Chagaev is going to be content on feeders and stay in Europe.

What's strange is how the IBF and WBA HWs have no contact with each other and there's not even common oppontents. Guys like Ruiz, Valuev, Chagaev have not only fought no Klitschkos, but any of Klitschkos title challengers :huh It's as if the WBA and WBC are entirely different leagues or something, like the NL and AL in baseball except even less contact.

Wlad does need to beat at least one of these two though before he retires. Chagaev and Valuev are the other two best fighters out there, except Povetkin.

I don't think we will ever see Wlad vs Valuev. Maybe if there is unification involved, but I think its too much risk (in fact I might favor the giant), for too little credit.

Possibly, but the money this would make in Germany would be crazy. I know Wlad is so far from "Money" Mayweather but if Valuev beats Ruiz there's probably going to be a massive purse offered to him.

chagaev is a *****..........JK but he is prone

maybe if valuev beats ruiz he can unify. i bet if ruiz wins though it wont happen. the guy use to scream unify when he had a belt and no one wanted to fight him

Most of the fighters in the Don King Stable aim for the WBA...this is one of the reasons why the Klitscho Bros are content on getting the other belts first. Ever since the Lamon Brewster fight, K2 does not like negotiating with DK Productions and vice versa. For some reason, DK always wants options on the other fighter in the event that his fighter loses, which isn't going to happen when dealing with K2.

With that said, I think Wlad or Vitali needs to fight Valuev. That, in my opinion, is the globally biggest fight that could be made in the Heavyweight division.
