I would agree with that assessment. Ward has a LONG way to go. Still baffled as to why he wouldn't fight Bute...

Ward might have the potential, but personally I dont think he ever will surpass either Pac or Floyd. I think he has a good chance to surpass Calzaghe, though.

I think the main problem for Ward is that his style not is very marketable. Pac and Floyd can pick their fights because they attract customers, and this also means they can get the top fighters in the ring. Even if we assume Ward has the skill and the talent to win as much as Pac and Floyd, the business side of it might make it hard for him to prove it.

On a sidenote; Wards ambition is to carry the sport after Pac and Floyd has retired. It's very good he has that kind of ambition, because it means he will try and challenge himself.

Ward wont fight either Dirrell brother. He will probably fight Bute.

My financial advisor too claimed he could predict the future. Turned out he couldn't even predict the past...

 ok, maybe i have to eat my words a bit, but still, Dawson asked for it and it is still a great win and challenge for a guy who has been on a long, long lay off.

Ward is doing well but what is missing from his record is an away win. Even if he beats everyone he'll just be a stay-at-home Annie like Calzaghe was (I know its bull**** but people love to pick)

Ahead of Pacquiao, yea I think so. Ahead of Mayweather, we'll have to wait and see.

Floyd is considered #1 P4P and has never fought outside of America.

gotcha :good. but at least he fought the final in Jersey.

i think he will convert to being a Vegas fighter as his popularity grows.
    Vegas is considered neutral, right?

    I think so too.

Vegas is kind of neutral but any Brit who fights there has to travel and readjust his body clock.

Imagine the plaudits Ward would get if he fought outside America, much like McClellan did against Benn. Reality is he won't though.

true. but the brits seem to be more committed to their fighters in comparison to american fight fans. they are some dedicated mofo's and sometimes end up filling american arenas and having more of their fans in the audience then their american opponents.

some of the british fighters like hatton and calzaghe probably felt right at home when they came to the US.
