Why is your name Nonito Smoak? Is it a combination of Nonito Donaire and someone else?

It was a joke me and my brother had.

The Mariners had just traded Cliff Lee to the Rangers for ****** Smoak.

We hated the deal, and made fun of Smoak hardcore. We don't pronounce his name "smoke" like it is and should be, we pronounce it "SMO-ACK."

One day we were inserting his name at the end of other athletes to find funny, ******ed combinations. Nonito Smoak stuck in my mind.

    Nothing too dramatic. Not Filipino.

    Guerrero- top 5 WW

Ortiz- where does he rank WW at the time? #3 according to everyone at the time; no exceptions

JMM- was a 135, not 130, fighter; he proved to be a great and functioning WW in 2 fights at WW against Pac after this one

Baldomir- what is it with you wanting ATG rankings of fighters still active, bro? Do you think that there are several fighters out there who beat multiple top 10 ATG's at WW or something? You're delusional. Baldomir was the lineal champ on a 9 year winning streak. Moving on...

Gatti- was ranked #2 at JWW by every ranking system, only behind Kostya

Castillo II- decisive victory for lineal crown in immediate rematch

Castillo I- took on the best LW; a 50/50 fight is not a robbery it's a close decision win

Corrales- you detail how shitty some performances are in an attempt to degrade the resume and then classify this as simply a "good win." Yeah, you don't have an agenda at all...

Genaro- You make a huge deal about one weight class in an effort to discredit Floyd, yet Oscar beat him better when he dragged him up to LW in Genaro's only world-level fight at LW?

Also, you forgot about perenial top 10 SFW Carlos Hernandez as well as Zab Judah, who was one fight removed from being the lineal WW king. And you forgot about Carlos Gerena, who was the Ring's #9 SFW entering their fight.

Way to only go at it with a negative perspective. That's too easy to do, man. Anyone can do it. Get in a debate opposite of the one you usually take; try being positive about a fighter you don't like's resume and you may find yourself surprised by your previous bias and ignorance.

While you guys are correct, you're getting awfully caught up in the now if you don't think it's a realistic possibility.

Dudes said the same thing about Oscar not being able to be the boss of or legitimate business rival to Arum. Now look.

Just saying, a bump of this thread in 15 years could make you guys look like you had tunnel vision on.

Oscar De la Hoya moving up to WW and fighting and beating Whitaker, Quartey and Trinidad, three champions who held three different WW titles at the same time for atleast 5 years without facing each other in a span of 2 years, is more than Mayweather has ever done.
