Agree 100% with you PH|LLA. It's one thing to explain how Mayweather has been accused of avoiding big fights and discuss that but it's entirely different to call him a dodger while praising Mosley as something who seeks the toughest fight out there. Ever heard of leverage? Merchant has been around the sport for way too long to talk like that. Mosley seeks the toughest fights out there because he needs to make a living. May/Pac are on a different level with everyone calling them out and are able to make any fight they want.

Merchant also didn't bring up Mosley's toothache. What happened there?

Same thing with the post fight interviews. Great TV and I love to watch awkward moments but I'd be pissed if I was a boxer and that grumpy old man was criticizing my style after a win.

oh he is 79 now? I guess I read that a while ago then. Even about 8 years ago he still looked 80.

Larry is a POS and HBO has displayed terrible judgment giving this moron a platform for so long. I couldn't disagree with your premise more.

As Philla said, Hagler was. But, yeah, Scypion was a hot and cold who was more cold than anything. At best though, a solid fighter. He really had a...whew, a bad time after the Hagler fight.

Many new fans to the sport hearing how merchant talks to or about mayweather and how he talks to or about other fighters ask me is that guy an old bigot. I have to keep telling them no because some of merchant favourite fighters are not caucasian. Yet when I watch some of his post fight interviews with mayweather he does indeed come across like an angry old man with a chip on his shoulder.

    What is merchant chip?

I don't think it's a chip so much as he's old and doesn't give a **** and he's used to guys of the Hagler and Frazier ilk. Did you see how disgusted he was, when Jermain Taylor said "I'll fight whoever for the most money". He thanked for his honesty, I think, but he was so disgusted. Ironically, Jermain would go on to fight a ton of tough competition, and a lot more than most champs bother with if they can do it easier. He just wants guys that want to mix it up with all the best and hates hearing about the real life health and finance issues that the pragmatic fighters have as the top priority. It's not that it's right but he has no problem showing that he gives a **** less about your bank account or your blah or your blah blah...eh...I forgot what I'm replying to or what I'm saying. Am I agreeing or disagreeing? What thread am I on? I have to take a nap.
