Right. He appeals more to people like you; ignorant, arrogant and self-righteous.

Don't get me wrong I think he's a legend and one of the, if not the, best TV braodcaster in boxing but sometimes he needs to reign his horses in. Its a question of respect to the fighters.

Apart from that I thnk most of his comments are spot on, very accurate.

Merchant blows at this stage, he takes 10 minute breaks in between random blurts about boxers/matches for 1903. He sips the haterade to often, and now it is just sad to see him stumble through post fights. Hell when he essentially retired Shane Mosley after the Mayweather fight, Mosley should have done the same with him during the wrap up afterwards.

Larry never liked Roy or Floyd.

anyone that fashions themself as spectacular ..the old man wishes to take them down a peg.

If you hate Merchant you're either a Floyd fan...or...a ***ot...which in a lot of cases is the same thing.

Larry Merchant is great and will be missed. Only hated by Floyd fans by what I've read here so far. Very elementary. Show any signs of non-praise to Floyd, you will be hated by his fans. Just like *******s. Never mind Merchant's long career with so many positives, because it's all **** if he's biased against Floyd, the same Floyd who exemplifies an upstanding citizen and role model for society.

Dodging a fighter is one thing. Dodging your whole division is another.

Floyd fought his first welterweight fight November 19, 2005 against Sharmba Mitchell. Half a decade and a fake retirement later, May 1, 2010, he finally fights one of the legit welterweights (or were welterweights within that time frrame) who also happened to be the oldest at 38. His comeback fight was against a blownup 36 year old lightweight.

    1. Antonio Margarito
    2. Shane Mosley
    3. Paul Williams
    4. Miguel Cotto
    5. Andre Berto
    6. Manny Pacquiao

If that's not dodging, what is? You have no problem calling Pacquiao a dodger when he avoided Mosley. Why can't you admit Floyd did the same for any of the above? In your mind, does Floyd really do no wrong?

LOL Cane, I already know your stand on things so there is no need to debate it.

It's a fair and legitimate observation from Larry really. I rate Floyd highly as a fighter but his resume (particularly at welterweight) could be more impressive had he not avoided some fighters, which he certainly has done particularly in this later stage of his career. Props for fighting Mosley though after Berto/Mosley collapsed he didn't really have much choice.

I don't see anything wrong with a boxing commentator spouting their opinion and calling it as it is.

    Larry is a legend!

I love watching old footage like that on Youtube, I find it quite interesting as it was way before my time.
