.... were you aware you were witnessing arguably the HW H2H GOAT, or did that realisation only come years after his retirement?
I think the Klitschko fight really defined him as a great fighter and H2H monster. The way he took Vitali out at the tail end of his career left quite an impression on me.
I realised how good he was at the time as you are seeing the skills, athleticism mixed with size, ring IQ and also the weaknesses of the man. However, my appreciation increased in the years following when we all saw how good Vitali was, too. I think if Lewis had rematched Vitali and beat him in a more conclusive manner then he would be even more highly thought of today. Saying that, i can still see why he retired and i don't hold it against him too much. Lewis was at the end of his career and unmotivated, yet he still managed to get the win, even if it wasn't a satisfying win in boxing terms, against a fresher, hungrier fighter.
Knew from the start that Lennox was special A truly great Heavyweight Champ Second only to The Greatest Muhammad Ali. Who incidently is Lennox idol too
Lewis was battered by Vitali Ko'd by McCall Ko'd by Rahman ...all in his prime. He is the exact opposite of a great H2H fighter.
ROFLMAO Lewis TKO 6 Klitschko Lennox demolished both in the rematches Your boy Tyson avoided him till he was broke & then fought for the $$$ alone
Foreman said in1990 Lewis will be the dominant HW for the next decade. Most in the states didn't think so lewis could be lazy and get beat or make hard work of fights but when on form which was most of the time he was devastating liked big tall fighters best had more trouble with stocky short guys .big George knew what he was talking about but somebody on this forum will probably know better and point out that wlad would beat him easy. yeah right!
