Tyson completely outboxed Berbick contrary to fans opinions that he walked through a faded fighter, this study shows how Tyson used feints to get inside and destroy Trevor, I feel Tyson was one of the most skilled heavyweights of all-time, are his skills underrated?

Mike was throwing H-Bombs in this fight. Great performance

You should've posted this on November 22nd bud. It would've been 33 years to the day.

    Dempsey KO3 Willard
    Liston KO1 Patterson
    Foreman KO2 Frazier
    Tyson KO2 Berbick

The above are the most destructive title changes in heavyweight history.

I've never seen anyone claim Berbick was faded.

Some guys on here have said he was faded compared to when he fought Holmes in `81.

I haven't seen much if that. I saw a single comment the other night that was sort of retracted upon banter from memory.

I wouldn't say he was Faded, he d just beat Thomas for the belt. But he was far from prime, he was an able veteran who could still pull off a decent win.

How would you rate his top 3 wins, in order Fergy? Actually 5 would be good.

Top of my head, I'll say Thomas, page and Tate. Can't really include Ali surely! Or Iran Barkley..
He did well to go the distance with Holmes I'll say that. And with Rahman when well past best.
I'll have to get a minute or two to think of another two good wins for you John..

Hey all good you bring me to my point. Berbick's best win is Thomas, the very fight before Tyson. I'm not thinking he was "far from prime" when he picked up his biggest win at that point. Tho lacklustre early he did ok to stop David Bey as well the year before.

Yep I get your meaning there John, he can't have been finished if he'd just beaten the champ. Sometimes tho, as we know, in boxing a guy can pull of a great win even when his best days are behind em. Such as Ali with Norton 3,Shavers and Leon 2. It depends sometimes to how bad, lackluster Faded the opponent is. Thomas was on the slide there, yet if you'd said that the previous year you'd have been laughed at.
But back to your original point, perhaps Thomas was the ideal candidate for Berbick right then, if hed faced any other alphabet belt holder then not sure how he'd do.
But to agree with you, Trevor wasn't finished, he proved that.

It's hard to say when Berbick was in his prime. He was such a split personality fighter, pretty much through his whole career...very impressive one fight, lackluster the next.

Berbick wasn't finished he just wasn't that good really. I could name a dozen HW's that would have knocked him out early.

As early as Tyson did though?
