Cotto is the one north of super feather I give him the most credit for. Highly creditable. His best win in years. It still doesn't impact his greatness any more than his prime era did, however. (and there's the awkward issue of Cotto being "damaged" at the time...although that nit-pick holds a lot less water than the extremely valid ones of almost all his other big triumphs above 130) Hatton is a deal less impressive...he'd recently had his jaw split like a log, and was stylistically handicapped against a much faster opponent. He ran headlong into all three KD punches. Decent KO, but not great-making. Bradley - well, I do rate him (at 140) and Pacquiao edged a close fight IMO...but he hardly dominated or deserved a near-shutout the way people carry on about.
Marquez II and III are losses in my eyes. The DLH win doesn't count. Diaz, Margarito, Clottey and Mosley aren't worth ****. Cotto is highly creditable (but he already had far greater accomplishments in Barrera I &Morales II), Hatton so-so, and Bradley was on fair scorecards a scrape-by a guy with a low workrate - always ill portent against Pacquiao - moving up in weight to meet him after Pacquiao had camped out at welter for three years already.
The one it took him 10 rounds to do? The one that Manny got done in around 6 minutes? Yeah, that one. If PAC' victory over SSM is worth nothing, then Floyds must be as well huh?
...and in what chronological order did those come, again? :think Oh yeah, same as with Hatton... Hatton and Mosley are hardly the highlights of Mayweather's resume either...but he did get slightly fresher versions of them. No disputing that.
Order? Who cares abou that! Ricky got retired by Manny. It's not like Ricky was on some major decline when he faced Pac!
Try to follow along with the context of the conversation. The original statement was that Floyd was sent running scared because of someone knocking out Hatton. He'd already knocked out Hatton. So...
This is why Sugar Ray Leonard grins a **** eating grin. His best wins were against opponents who had never lost, or were on decade-long winning streaks.
And it took ages for it to come. Manny BLITZED Hatton. No doubt in my mind that was the fight that put the "Take the test" wheels in motion, IMO.
