When people say 18-3 to discredit Lomachenko

In all seriousness and I'm not trying to be flippant or funny here. But maybe Loma should try eating more food? If he's tired of being significantly outweighed on fight night then he could fix this problem by eating more.

 

You don’t think improving to 21-0 with 21 KOs with a decisive win over a prime-ish, elite, p4p level opponent(something very few fighters have) in Bivol and becoming undisputed would make Beterbiev a top p4p fighter and a greater fighter than Lomachenko?

Personally If we get a decisive winner tonight, I would write the winner right next to Usyk, Crawford and Inoue as one of the best active fighters in the world today.

 

Salido should have been disqualified and it is a big bad luck for Loma's career; thus lose "zero".

 

Nobody says Loma is not a great great fighter. Even his detractors don’t say that. He should have rematches the guys that beat him like Lopez, Salido and Haney. Of course refusing to fight Tank and retiring stains his record. Funny how people call out Tank but when the reality of facing Tank is upon them they develop mental health issues like Ryan Garcia or start talking about retirement like Loma.

 

His supporters think he is a deity they are that loyal. We made the Tank Test available to him from our PBC side but he does not want to go out being knocked out brutally. I understand and wish comrade Vassily the best. What a ride it has been.

 

It doesn’t. You can be great, but you can’t possible be one of the best ever when you haven’t even proved superiority over your peers yet.

These posts sum up my own position perfectly.

It's not just the fact that he's only 18-3 that's an issue, it's also the fact that those 18 wins are rather thin. To me, he got way too much hype too quickly from a media that was desperate to anoint a P4P "successor" to genuine ATGs like Mayweather & Pacquiao. Ironically, fighters like Crawford & Inoue that were often in Loma's shadow would turn out to be much worthier of that mantle.

These 2 statements are almost contradictory given that the best fighters in history often won fights despite giving away significant weight disadvantages. It's almost disingenuous to argue that he deserves to rank among the best so long as he doesn't have to overcome the same obstacles as the best.
