Exactly. It's not like I'm saying he wouldn't take fights at 168, I think he would, I'm just pointing out that he's a contemporary and historically small MW to begin with and is already 32 years old. People are setting unrealistic expectations if they are rolling out James Toney analogies or thinking he could easily dominate SMW.

After Ward moves to LHW because he and his team know he would lose to Ward.

Every GGG thread does because it's crawling with *****s seeking to discredit him.

Anyway, OP has left out the most crucial poll option - "when he's offered a truckload of cash" to move up.

if the other beltholders won't fight him until end of 2015 he should move up to 168 or down to 154 (if possible)

I'm not trying to discredit him troll. If I was trying to discredit him I would be saying he sucks and is nothing but a hype job. I've already gone on record multiple times that GGG is the real deal and is the best fighter in the world at 160. A hater wouldn't say that, a hater would say he sucks. I just realize unlike so many here that none of the key fighters at 160 will fight him there and he's wasting his time by staying in weak division when he could move up. The guys at 168 are big names and are willing to fight him. Yet people some how say this is hating.:-(

Todays fans have a ridiculous obsession with moving up in weight.

Golovkin is the epitome of what a middleweight is.... and if he isnt outgrowing his weight, then he should stay there. Period.

What happened to the days when fighters wanted to make their stamp on a division and make it theirs, to become a big part of that divisions history as one of its best champions.

And garunteed, if G moved up now, his critics would look back on his career saying 'he left middleweight without ever even being the real, lineal champion there'

    - Golovkin should try and become one of the greats at middleweight. Become a king there and rule it with an iron fist, something that seems to be lacking these days.

Then, if he ever is having trouble making the weight, or has made his mark on the division that history will remember, then move up for other challenges. But seeing as how old he is, he probably wont have time to do both.

So given his age.... which makes more sense. Become the modern king at middleweight and make your name a page in middleweights history, or move up, win some and lose some against guys he shouldnt be fighting in the first place.

Hope he stays at 160 for as long as he makes it comfortably.

I wouldn't have a problem with that if 160 was like 126 is now with many names but it's not it's largely a garbage division and the big names aren't willing to fight him.

I hear you man. Unfortunatly for any fighter wanting to rule a division over time, this is a cycle they will go through (Ward is having one right now, for different reasons (he actually cleaned his division out)

A fighter ruling a division will have a hot run of contenders, then have to wait while the next crop of challengers sprout. Hopkins went through it as well.

There will come a time, fairly soon, when all roads at middleweight will lead to Golovkin, in the same manner that at heavyweight, the truth is all roads lead to Wlad. And it will happen that any top middleweight who wants to be taken seriously at the weight will have to fight Golovkin.... and they will know that (identical to the situation at heavyweight)

I would just hate to see Golovkin bail out early at middleweight, because of a bunch of fans that just want to see fighters keep moving up in weight fighting guys they shouldnt be, winning some and losing some along the way.

He should go after real greatness and longevity in the sport... and that is become a middleweight king.

Whenever he feels like, Ward's run out of opponents at SMW for a while now, but he can stay there for all I care, I'm not bashing him for not moving up, GGG has actually a lot of things to do at MW.

Also probably THE biggest reason that people (GGG Haters) want him to move up is for him to lose, they're desperate for that. According to them he's such a hypejob, but they need to look in higher divisions to find opponents that they think would beat him, it's pretty pathetic.

That's the problem. People see you applying that to Golovkin and being ok with Ward staying at 168 - double standards.

-Golovkin hasn't cleaned up 160, Ward cleaned up 168

-Golovkin hasn't faced fellow titleholders at 160 for lack of willingness to fight him, Ward already beat Froch, Bika and Abraham

-Golovkin is a small MW who would need to bulk up to fight at 168 permanently vs just a one-off for a Chavez Jr payday (PPV, which Ward isn't), Ward is a big SMW who once fought at LHW

-Golovkin can still fight Quillin, Cotto, Jacobs, Murray, Sturm and Soliman whereas all Ward has left at 168 is up & comers Groves and DeGale along with Dirrells whom he won't fight because they're friends

    Great post.

This right here is exactly what I dont get.

All I see are calls for Golovkin to move up. And yet if anyone in all of boxing should be moving up, its flat out Andre Ward.

And yet the same exact people constantly harping on G to move up and fight Ward, are the same ones not holding that standard to Ward himself, when Golovkin actually has a lot to do at middleweight, and Ward has nothing left to do in his.

Whenever his body is ready for the move up or whenever a contract lands on his lap that is worth the risk/reward factor that every boxer must ponder.

I only want ward to stay at 168 for either a fight with ggg or a froch rematch other than that he should move up. He's beaten the best in the division because unlike the best at 160 in ggg s case they were willing to fight him.
