    When boxing Gods interfered....

    2000:
    1/14.

'Lennox Lewis is looking at the 'big 2' of heavyweight boxing. Michael Grant and Vitali Klitschko'

Grant was signed first.. with Lewis wanting the older Klitschko after.
Vitali takes the Chris Byrd fight to up his stock even more and perhaps rise negotiations fees to 35/65.

2000-04-01 : Chris Byrd 209¾ lbs beat Vitali Klitschko 247¼ lbs

2000-04-29 : Lennox Lewis 245 lbs beat Michael Grant 254 lbs by KO at 2:53 in round 2 of 12

Vitali's stock dropped and the fight was never made.

2000 was the last year of Lennox's prime.. Even though tko6 happened 3 1/2 years later... one can't help but wonder how a motivated in shape Lewis of 2000 would have done? Perhaps a knock out of the iron chin Vitali?
Or maybe just maybe ... Vitali would have gotten more credit for giving a Prime Lewis a great fight? Had he not quit against Byrd?

    2002/2003
    Emmanuel Steward to Lennox Lewis
'Waldimir is the heir to your throne.. you must be ready to fight him. He is the real deal. He will be the next great heavyweight champion.""

2003-03-08 Wladimir Klitschko gets knocked out by Corrie Sanders

Ending the potential super fight of heir vs king.

    Interesting points to consider.
1- Lewis would not have been unmotivated against Wlad because Emmnauel hyped Wlad up to the skies. Emmnauel respected Wlad a lot more than Vitali and would have been ready for Wlad.

2- Wladimir's questionable chin has only been exposed once up to this point. It was there for the taking.

    But

3- Who knows? Maybe Wlad will land a lucky hailmary and all of a sudden.. we actually have a legitimate passing of the torch moment? Losing to the Young Wlad by KO would have hindered Lewis's legacy... even an aging on his way out Lewis.

So did fate saved Lennox Lewis from a 2000 version of Vitali and from Wlad? Or did fate took away from Lewis a even more decisive beat down of Vitali + a KO victory over the current great heavyweight champ?

    So did Bowe-Vitali-Wlad-Tyson.

So what? Only Haye was brave enough to fight Ruiz.
