Unfortunately he does have to stay with HBO for now.

Likely by the time his HBO contract's up Hopkins is likely to be at the point of retirement - though if the only way a Stevenson fight could be made was a one off on SHO I'd say do it.

If Hopkins can beat Stevenson - as looks more probable since the Fonfara fight - Kovalev has less motivation to switch networks however.

As for Kovalev's 'simple' style - I'm not quite sure what is meant, or whether that's some kind of insult. He's not blindingly fast, but is quick and mobile and controls range well, he feints well, he times his opponents well, he throws multiple punch combos from different angles and has KO power in both hands.

It doesn't have to be flashy or slick to be effective - the only thing we haven't seen is how he will respond to a fighter, like Hopkins, who will try to tie him up and smother him.

Winky proven Tito proven Oscar proven Taylor proven Dawson proven Pavlik proven RJJ proven Calzaghe proven Pascal proven Tarver proven. Anyone of those guys I just named would be the best fighter on Kovalev's resume.:deal To say Kovalev is more proven and better than anyone Hopkins has fought shows you can't be taken serious for real boxing debate and are a delusional troll.

 

Kovalev possibly could beat this version of Bernard if he can keep up the pace for the 12 rounds, however Hopkins is known to always pull of the upset and we dont really know how Kovalev would do in the later rounds.

Stylistically Pavlik was very similar to Kovalev, Tito was a big puncher to and Tavoris Cloud.

I dont care about Hopkins, Stevenson/Kovalev is the fight that needs to happen

 

I dunno, maybe Stevenson isnt scared, but maybe hes securing his future by trying to get as much money as possible before he (maybe) loses to Kovalev. You cant blame him.

What would you do?

a) Fight a few fighters, make a bit of money, get (possibly) Kod by Kovalev and your career is over

or b) fight Kovalev immediately, get (possibly) Kod by Kovalev and your career is over
