Of course you don't want to be getting in the ring if you don't feel ready but from starting out how long did you guys wait before having your first bout? I have been going for just over 3 months now and still feel I am far from ready.

better worry about doing well in sparring and learning the basics before thinking about figting.

Dont worry about it, you shouldnt be ready in 3 months for your first fight. Also, we all learn to box at different rates, so just worry about progressing as a boxer and getting quality sparring.

I had first fight after 7-8 month of training. Maybe would have had it couple of months sooner if there would be some matches during a summer

Good question. A guy at my gym was told by the coach he was ready. He'd been training for a while, but he had his own doubts over cardio, the time he could put into training, and facing a guy heavier than him.

Then you are not ready, everyone is different and we all start from different points, a guy who has already been competing in some other sport for example has a head start on someone who is just coming of his couch.

Start sparring and then start fighting when you feel confident, confidence is a huge factor and you will do a lot better if you feel it before fighting.

You.your coach will know when your ready, everyone takes a different amount of time depending on ability/dedication etc. ive been training for about a year and a half now and im just ready for my first fight, its took me this long as i didnt have any ability at the beginning and took myself a while to get to the point where im ready to fight

Before I let any of my beginners fight they must know and understand how to throw and block every punch. Simple.

I had my first after 4months of consistent training (with a 2week break to go benidorm) but had done spots on and off since I was about 15. My fights on here and it was a brawl, but the matchmaking was based around that so it would depend on your opponent.

If you're at a solid gym, then it'll be 6 mos to a year before you should take a fight.

For me, the question of when to get somebody I've been training into the ring is like "when is your daughter old enough to date?" That first time is difficult because every time they get hit I feel like I failed them in my instruction.
I think it better to error on the side of caution. Except for me; I thought I was ready my first day.

because im 21 and never fought as a junior i definitely want to train abit longer before my first fight, been at for about 6-7months i would say maybe wait a year or longer depends how i develop in that time.

Thats just common sense mate. Any trainer who doesn't do this is stupid or completely unprofessional.
