Ok, so Ive been going back to the gym for a while now, training alot and working on everything. Before I got to spar a few times then I got injured and had problems, now Im starting to wonder when I should start sparring again. My trainer told me that sparring is everynight from 7pm-10pm, but Im second guessing if Im ready yet or not as I would like to lose more weight. Any advice welcome, including body strengthening techniques IE med ball into the stomach type stuff.
Many people are affraid of sparring from past experiences they have either been knocked about or injured this puts a lot of people off. You can train all you want on the bags but they dont hit back. Its a completely differant board game when you spar you are putting all the things you have learnt into practice. If you get hurt then take it on the chin its all part of the learning curve. Sparring also gets your body used to taking punches and improves your fittest leaps and bounds. Sparring is the most important part of training and you should put as many rounds in as possible..
Thank you very much. I didnt get an injury from sparring, got it from gettin hit by a taxi . It set me back quite a bit but Ill start sparring and once again thank you for the advice.
after the first time i sparred it took me months to get back into the ring, i was put in with a kid who was probably around 15 and i was like 17 at the time, i got my ass kicked and everytime i was asked to spar i woould remember it, but then one day i thought **** it whats the worse that could happen so i got back to it
I think you should begin sparring now. As you said you 've been training for a while so you must be ready. Try to relax and explain the situation to your coach that you want to start at slow pace to let your body adjust to the difficulties of sparring seccions and get mentally prepared. Try to find some specific sparring partners that have boxing knowledge and they don't want to kick your ass or humiliate you. Last advice but very important you should not be too stiff and punch too hard because a) that 'll not help you learn much and b) you could make your opponent furious. You don't need that especially at the beginning.
I went to the gym tonight and did 3 rds of sparring after my usual training. My trainer wants me to go 4 rds next time with more power behind the punches. I had alot of fun, took alot of shots on my gaurd, not alot got through. I actually improved my left hook, defense, and fighting on the inside.
yea when i first went back the first time, instead of waiting, the first day i got back i asked to spar to see where i was at. surprisingly i felt alot stronger and smarter in the ring. the break did me well.
