I am sure some will cry. But the good thing is they will no longer troll, as they won't have anything to talk about. Same will happen to them when Fury retires - here is the absurd.

I don't care who retires, it's just a sport. What matters to me is what they show in the ring, whoever is confused seeing such people as role models is lost.

 

It will be a sad day. Great fighter, great guy.

People will miss Fury, AJ and Wilder too when they're gone, even if you hate them. What is there on the horizon to replace them?

 

The problem is not that the guys aren't there, the problem is that they can't get the fights.

None of the guys you mentioned were anointed heir apparent. Fury was a controversial figure up until the Klitschko win, and has been on and off thereafter. Wilder was in the sport five years before he fought a semi-live body, and has fought precious few overall. Whereas Joshua was hyped from the start, he had haters from the beginning due to the perception that he did not earn his gold medal.

A LOT of guys are young enough and good enough to do at least as good as these three managed.

For Christ's sake, get these guys some fights!

 

Judging by their activity and age - they will retire with below 40 fights in their career. Which can be fine if they face enough top opponents. But yes - they can do a great run and the variety of action they can offer is great.

 

Which one of them, save for Anderson, has the same level of star potential? thats the main metric i'm referring to, not so much actual ability. When the big 4 of the current division are gone things are likely to go back to mid/late 00s levels of obscurity.

 

That is up to the promotors to provide. If they can take a nothing talent like Wilder and convince everyone that he has super-power by coming from behind to knock out cans like Molina and Szilka, then some of these guys who have genuine talent can certainly be hyped.

 

I think a lot of Wilders star power came from his association with AJ and Fury tbh. If not for the Fury fights and the whole team AJ vs team Wilder fanboying he probably would have stayed in relative obscurity. Usyks visibility was massively elevated by the AJ fights and now the fanboying and drama over Fury vs Usyk too. Its kind of like how Pac became a much bigger star than he would have been through having a big adversary to chase in Floyd.

 

Less than how many fighters of today make cry.

 

I will cry big manly tears when Usyk retires. He's a credit to the sport.

 

That's how a fan must sound - objective, not biased and obsessed. But it's not very typical for the fans of the Ukrainian.
