When Vitali retires, who does Wladimir has to beat to become "The Lineal" Champion?

Lineal champions are not real. Everyone has their own rankings, and thus, their own #1 and #2 in each division.

When Margarito and Shane fought, it was not for the Ring title, but it was for most peoples' lineal title. Why don't we hear people speaking about Shane having the lineal title and losing it to Floyd in 2010? Because The Ring didn't say so. But I did. So, Floyd is my lineal welterweight champion based on those past principles. But he is not to most people out there.

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A DEFINITIVE LINEAL CHAMPION! Its foundation is on the premise of opinion.

its complicated, Vitali was gone for four years Wlad definitely did enough to start his own lineage but then Vitali came back and was successful this is very complicated

 

That's the problem, with so many different belts available and all. Each one has a different rating for each contender. In theory the WBC is the only real belt left & when Vitali retires, number 1 will have to fight number 2 for that vacant title. Then that guy gets to be knocked out by Wladimir, simple! :bbb

Infact isn't Wlad technically lineal anyway as he beat Chris Byrd

 

ring had Byrd on #1 when they rematched but he wasn't the champ and Wlad only was #8. so it wasn't between #1 and #2. Wlad has done enough to establish a new lineage anyway as far as i'm concerned. Vitali is the #2 he would have to call Wlad out but he doesn't so hes not really disputing his reign anyway. Once Vitali retires I bet the WBC will gift the belt to Arreola
