According to his camp and many, many experts, his prime was just before Dubois hit him in the face.

For me his boxing prime was likely the second Usyk fight, his mental prime? Anytime before Ruiz. Yes, Whyte and Wlad shook him but I think he still felt resilient before the Ruiz loss...

Lots of revisionism going on as I suggested in another thread. AJ 'learnt live', a successful Audley Harrison if you like; not in ability but in the the way he had to grow up in public. His first opponents are a who's who of the kind of opponents hot prospects fight. I always felt Fury was better matched, his fights were as easy but his opponents were picked so he would learn something from them, and that's what matchmaking is all about; AJ suffered from Bruno syndrome, you don't learn much when you're just knocking them over.

From Whyte on his record is decent but he started to decline mentally. But hey, kid was a hell of a fighter. Those writing him off are forgetting that. I'm going to make what sounds like a contradictory statement but for me, culturally, he was the dominant heavyweight of his era, but Fury and Usyk were (are?) the elites of the division. You can only beat what's in front of you, and more often than not AJ did, and impressively so.
