Yes, IMO he was in his prime when Pac beat him the first time. I think you'd have to be looking to after the final Morales war to see him in decline.
Did Barrera lose all the rounds to Pacman in their first fight? Barrera lost to a better man in his first fight with Pacman. Just accept that fact.
a more logical question would be is manny pacquiao in his prime when he TKO MAB.. in MAB-PAc 1, we are just watching the surface of manny's immense talent... simply put, a prime barrera was stopped by a pre-prime pacman
But how is it possible that a pre-prime Pac could stop a prime Barrera, if a post-prime Barrera fought a more competitive fight with a prime Pac? I think the answer is that Barrera was not prepared enough. It would have been nice to see a rematch just after MAB-Pac 1.
yes. barrera was in his prime when pac beat him the first time. he was coming off wins vs. hamed, morales, tapia and kelly.
Marco's prime was around 1999-2003, but I always highlight the three performances that really put him on a higher plane to the sort of performances he was giving early in his career at 122. He was always fabulous to watch, and in his fights with Magana and Cook he looked like a world beater from the beginning. He always had the fast hands, the combinations, and the killer instinct. However, Barrera became a new fighter in light of his first defeat to Junior Jones. He became more cautious, he improved his defence, and none of this stopped him from being an offensive machine. He began to show more shot variety also, when he fought Salud, the commentators made note of how many new things Marco was showing in that fight. Straight right, and his uppercut had never looked better. It landed nearly everytime he threw it, with both hands. Marco was a two fisted fighter. 2000-2003.
He was still in his prime 2003, it wasn't necessarily his best night though. Even as a huge Pac fan I can accept that MAB wasn't in his best that night, he was surprised by Pac. Still no excuse though, a great fighter like MAB doesn't get destroyed just because he is under prepared. Pac has his number.
