    I know!

Why hasn't this being asked before??

Surely can't have been when he was doing the fox trot with Tyson..
When he was losing to Holmes perhaps..?

I think that asking when he peaked would be a more appropriate question. He was very capable from '84 to '89 or '90, but he never had the sort of definable prime that you could think of for other fighters. Smith was quite inconsistent at the world level, but tried REALLY hard when he fought against big names (under most circumstances), or in fights where the stakes were high.

I'd probably have to say the time he was most consistent, his four fight win streak in 1986 where he stopped Weaver and Witherspoon in 1, and got decisions over both Ferguson and Bey. He did look quite good against Bruno and Holmes in '84, as well as in '85 against Tubbs, Ribalta, and Witherspoon- But I think that he looked better the following year. I could be wrong though, I haven't seen some of his fights in quite some time.

I'm gonna go to the bathroom and get something to eat, and when I come back, I'll start watching Smith - Ferguson to see how that turns out. I'll leave both that and the fight with Tubbs here for people to compare themselves, as these are two of the lesser watched fights amongst those mentioned.

His prime was when he went on a win streak prior to the Tyson fight having the most notable wins of his career over Weaver, Ferguson, Bey, Witherspoon.

So logically his prime was 1986.

The Tyson fight was his peak.

I'd say that's about his peak, Stevie.
