Many believe that Forch's best days are over. Of course, that doesn't mean he can not compete at a high level anymore. He could beat Bute next and be right back in the game.

But... when was Froch at his best? Against what fighter?

Abraham, he schooled him when everyone thought his caveman slow chin out style klike he did vs kessler would have him dropped for sure vs the hard hitting abraham, it was expected to be one of those can go either way fights yet froch schooled him.
I dont believe he is much passed it though, maybe a little.
Ward schooling him doesnt mean he is passed it a lot.

To be honest, Cesare, Froch still is a caveman. Beating another caveman in Abraham, doesn't dispel that. Against Ward, he went back to being the Froch knew him to be against Taylor and Dirrell.

As for when his peak was, it's hard to say, but I'd be tempted to go for Pascal/Taylor. He went through wars and still came out on top. Whereas against Kessler, he didn't seem quite the same beast, and I was kinda' surprised to see him get backed up pretty easily at times.

He showed he could patiently work behind the jab, I think most expected him to fight like he did vs kessler.

Who are these many? I think Froch was at his best against Ward. If it were anyone else Froch would have won.

I believe Froch is still at his best. He was just never going to be better than Ward or Kessler.

Most people can work patiently behind a jab against a punchbag. Honestly, the Abraham fight didn't prove much, apart from the fact that Abraham is useless at 168.

Ironically, I think the fight Froch truly started coming into his best form was against Kessler.

I thought he showed a good deal of technical improvement and better ring smarts. Everyone always talks about Froch's warrior spirit and toughness, but I think he also has a very underrated ring IQ, and for me he truly peaked over the stretch where he fought Kessler, Abraham, Johnson, and (believe it or not) Ward.

The Froch who fought Dirrell and especially Taylor was not the more complete fighter he would later become in my eyes.

    :good

Didn't see this before I made my post, but I think he's probably at his best right around now, too.

Physically he was at his best for the pascal fight for me.. But technically he had loads to do. Obviously he is still limited technically but improved throughout the super six.. However, i see him slower and more shop worn than 3-4 years ago.

At that time I thought it was against Abraham. But looking back I kind of agree with this

    Schooling Abraham.

Not many thought he could fight like that.
