When was Jack Sharkey’s prime?

    The one fight where he was at his absolute best, he was sporadic, I don’t think he was ever in his best physical condition, he should’ve been in the low-mid 180lbs, but was always close to 200lbs if not more.
    When was his absolute prime in your opinion?

    I would say 1929. His 3 round Ko of Tommy Loughran is quite impressive on film. Especially with where Loughran was at that point in his career. Then he dominated Phil Scott and finally in 1930 was giving a great account of himself in a competitive bout with Schmeling before he clearly fouls Max and loses.
    In 1929 he was 26 years old and had the proper experience facing the competition he did. He declined pretty quickly after first Schmeling fight.
