When was the last time a ppv held a double header with 4 different headliners?

  1. I'm not a huge fan of mma but I just passed by a report that an upcoming UFC ppv is having three fights on one card in which either one could headline a ppv and do good numbers on it's own. I wish boxing would do that. Now there are occassions when HBO or Showtime will have a free card that has a supporting fight that should of main evented(ex. Pavlik/Miranda..Taylor/Spinks). Why couldn't have seen Pavlik/Hopkins and Jones/Calzaghe on the same card. I think if they were on the same card the numbers would be better than individually combined. All I'm saying is that I wish every once in a while boxing would give you more bang for your buck.

More people that are currently buying neither would have bought a combined one that the number of people that are buying both? I don't think so.

That would be nice, unfortunately I think the boxers and promoters are more worried about getting more bang for their buck, and I doubt they would be too enamoured with splitting the pie amongst even more fighters.

I would love if they'd do that, but at the end of the day they can get me to pay $50 for Hopkins vs. Pavlik and $50 for Jones vs. Calzaghe. So there's $100 vs. having me pay, say, $60, for one fight with two great fights. More money for them.

I have to disagree with that. 600 buys wont make 1.2 with double header. Maybe 7,8 or 900...

I tought that Klit-Peter and Tarver-Dawson was a pretty cool card (even if not a the same place).

I also recall Margarito Williams, Cintron-Mathysse and Gatti-Gomez being on the same program. Cool evening.

But of course, we need more

Won't ever happen because of the difference in salaries between boxers and MMA fighters.

A major cause is that the feature bout has unrealisticly high purses----Promoter/Boxers = BAD NEWS-------they play with PPV like brokers on the stock market------:smoke :smoke

Margo Williams was on showtime, the other two were on HBO. I was there at the fight covering it. It was a trip, the second Gatti went down all of press row went to the press room to watch Margarito vs. Williams, there were like 3 people at the press conference for Gatti, if that. Very fun night.

Don King did that card a few years back with

    Ruiz vs Golota
    Holyfield vs Donald
    Byrd vs McCline
    Rahman vs Meehan
    McCall vs TOS Williamson

Two current HW title holders, two former undisputed champions, one former title holder and the rest solid contenders.

The weakest fighters on the card were Meehan and TOS, but both had come off close losses - Meehan to Brewster for the WBO title, TOS lost a technical decision to Wlad after he had knocked Wlad down. Both were fairly well regarded at the time.

ya that would be an awsome thing, but like others have said the differance between salaries prevent it
