When was the last time Muhammad Ali talked trash?

I guess the last time he could talk.

It's been quite a while.

He's gained my respect for the way he's coping with his condition. His wife released a statement from him a year or two ago. It was something along the lines of :'I'm playing the hand I've been dealt. I didn't complain when I was on top of the world. I'm not going to complain now'.

 

Sometime in the early eighties. He'd still be doing it, if he could. Why? Because it's in his nature.

 

He tried to talk trash before the Holmes bout but he'd already deteriorated so badly that it just seemed stale and labored. The poor guy was even dozing off/going into trances in the middle of press conferences.

People forget that the media at the time knew this was a huge mismatch going in and that even people near Ali's camp were calling to have the fight canceled based on Ali's medical condition.

 

Wasn't that a Don King promoted fight?

Just trying to get as much money out of Ali as they could.

 

When was last time anyone understood him?

When the State of Hawaii Boxing Commission denied him a boxing license.

Muhammad started that 'racist stuff' all over again.

And just think about the travelling he still does !! He's always been determined that his illness was n't going to stop him doing what he wants.

 

That was Ali having a joke ! Rather different from 'trash talking'
