i thought trinidad vs delahoya was it, but i believe roy was ranked #1 at the time so, if somebody knows, what was the ranking of those 2 in 1999? and have p4p #1 and #2 faced before? sorry for my bad english
Not really sure of the answer to your question, but just FYI there is no "official" p4p rankings. Only different folks' opinions, such as The Ring, ESPN, general consensus, etc.
Whitaker-De La Hoya I think. Not necessarily consensus top 2, but most folks had both of them somewhere in the top 3.
Delahoya and Jones were both considered number 1 at time depending on who you asked. The last time was when Pernell and Chavez fought. Ps to the poster who said Pernell and Delahoya :nono Jones had passed up Whittaker as Whittaker had a few subpar performances against Rivera and Hurtado. Jones was at his peak.
There is no official P4P rankings the best we have is Ring rankings, Yahoo! Sports Rankings, and ESPN rankings. Hell, Boxrec current ranks Bernard Hopkins ahead of both Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Calzaghe v Hopkins.. Mayweather had just retired and many people had Joe number 1 at that stage.. although for a VERY short period.. hopkins around 3?
I honestly don't know how BoxRec gets their P4P rankings, I know they have the star system for fighters but I can't figure out how Hopkins ranks ahead of Pacquiao or Mayweather.
It is computer-generated I believe, so it's completely objective. Which isn't always a good thing, when you consider how much you can tell about a fighter, win or lose, by watching him.
