When he lost to past it, out of shape near 38 yr old Lewis.

How many of you bothered to watch the guy from that 97 to 2000 timeframe? All those early ko's. He didn't just appear in the rankings all of a sudden years later--the guy was 26-0 w/ 26 ko's when at his best against Hide. His shoulder was bad going into the Byrd fight & the nasty left hook was gone and never came back. That was the best version.

What he did since then is something other heavies never do--adapted his style and did it successfully. No more left hook. A slap now, no sizzle. Take away any other guy's best punch and what do you have left? This guy adapted and is the rarest of breeds to have pulled it off.

actually both klitschko and lewis knew they were fighting each other on like a week and a bits notice so neither was really prepared but vitali was at his physical age prime so shouldve been easier to get into tip top shape compared to almost 40 lennox lewis

    Vitali was 31(pre prime)
    Lennox was 36(barely post prime)

In my opinion he had two primes and two styles.

First; Kirk Johnson/Corrie Sanders. After retirement; Arreola.

I think vs. Peter & Arreola. He appeared more toned and ripped, much quicker and overall more experienced in the ring. He doesn't sit on his punches anymore but I think it benefits his counter punching style.

he continuously disintegrated physically but improved his boxing abilities. physically his prime was way before the retirement but when he was at his best is hard to tell imo

2003, he is clearly past his best now, his power and snap is reducing along with speed and workrate and foot speed

Workrate? Really? Isn't his workrate one of the best in history of boxing? Against Briggs he threw 727 punches, against Johson he threw an amazing 1013 punches. Against Arreola he threw 802 punches - in 10 rounds.

Against Sanders he threw 413 in 8 rounds, against Williams 519, also in 8 rounds.

Vitali was prime for the Kirk Johnson, Corrie Sanders Danny Williams fights.

I'd say Lewis brought Vitali up to his prime. :good

His prime started in 2003 and finished in 2005, interrumpted by his injuries.

I the first fights of his comeback, he looked extremely good. In his most recent fights, age is noticing.

its called boxing. Anyone who doesnt think Lewis is more skillful than Vitali is a disgraceful fanboy.

Pretty gay when you think about it. if you were just honest you could have reasonable debates with people.

Vitali had other intangibles that made him a great fighter just because he might not be as skillful as someone doesnt make you a lesser fighter or boxer( otherwise Judah would 198-0(198) )

but you wouldnt know that because your not really a boxing fan and will retire from watching when Wlad and Vitali go
