It was pretty good but I didn't like the fact that it (like many boxing documentaries) acted like Ali was lying on the ropes just taking a beating and doing little until Foreman tired. As soon as Ali went to the ropes in round 2, he was landing good clean straight punches to Foreman's face. Foreman was leaving himself wide open and getting tagged all night long, in every round.
For a better boxing documentary, watch Sugar Ray Robinson: Bright Lights & Dark Shadows of a Champion. That was a great documentary, an insight into Ray's ring brilliance and also his ugly, dark side.
This. Ali was easily winning the fight. Though he took a lot of damage, especially to the body/kidneys. But he was definitely winning the fight. It's one of the best documentaries out there, I think. Frazier vs Ali: One Nation Divided is really solid too. Facing Ali just recently got released happens to be a great documentary.
Jack Johnson: Unforgeable Blackness is the very best I've seen. I don't think it could be bettered by much. Don't particularly rate Kings, though the inclusion of the writer Norman Mailer was nice.
Forgot about that one. That was really good. I started reading the book, which was good too, but got lazy and misplaced it.
