How long have you felt this way about Napoles? Did he become your favorite as his career unfolded in real time?

Good point, so I had only started read about him late 60s when my interest in Boxing started to really take hold , my dad also liked the sport and saw fighters such as Dick Tiger, Terry Downes, Vic Andreeti, so I sort of got my first insight from my dad, and then developed on from then, I was 15 in 1969 and in those days you rarely , if at all, saw any boxers out side England, and so my only avenue was through Boxing News ( world class from 69 to 76ish ) to read about the him and his peers, such as Olivaries, Benvenuti, Griffith, in said paper.
Then one Saturday afternoon WOS covering his first fight with Lewis, well I didn't sleep the night before ( I kid you not ) and at about 2oc they showed that fight, to see him in person having read so much about him was mind blowing !! I am sure you know the result, but just to see his moves, his ring craft for me about 16 was fantastic, and yes after that followed his career avidly, most reading in BN but sometimes on the tele, maybe it was my age, maybe the times, so when I see Jose ( Thank god for You Tube ) it takes me back, at my age 66 that's comforting.
So there you go mrkoolkevin that's my journey, maybe you and our other posters would like to do same ? keep well.
